FlashForward: ABC TV Show Cancelled, No Season Two

FlashForwardThe ABC TV show about what happens in the future apparently doesn’t have one. FlashForward has been cancelled after one season.

FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for 137 seconds and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.

The series debuted in September and attracted a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 12.47 million viewers. With a lot of buzz, it seemed like ABC had a hit. For week two, the ratings dropped to a still very respectable 3.7 and 10.73 million.

But then viewership just kept falling, hitting a low of a 2.1 in the key demo and just 7.1 million viewers. Then, ABC pulled the series for three months. The spin was that they would relaunch FlashForward after the Olympics.

The network gave the return a significant amount of promotion but it didn’t help. FlashForward’s ratings were even worse and they just kept dropping. They’ve gotten so bad that The CW has been beating them in the demo.

To no surprise, ABC has cancelled FlashForward after one season of 20 episodes. The series finale will air in two weeks, on May 27th.

What do you think? Did FlashForward deserve a second season? Could ABC have saved it? If given the chance, how would you wrap it up?

I really enjoyed this series and want very much to see it continued. Who cares what channel picks it up. I never heard of it on “regular tv”. I found it on Netflix.

ABC are people who needs people …..
For that reason the show was cancelled !!!!
They don’t care about what people thinking, they care about what people watching.
In a last few years there is a dificit of thinking people, there is more and more watching people. Watching what ? I think, low-IQ profile programs – light stories, faked reality shows, breaking news (crashes, catastrofes ….e.t.c.) – We don’t need to think, we only need to watch. The thinking ERA is gone far away !!!
It’s no way to bring back FlashForward or similar TV serials (even they are very good in their idea). Theese serials are multiline stories withe several agendas along the season. People need to watch from Season#1Episode#1 in order to understand the whool picture. So, …….
Also, It costs a lot of money, and you know from where money !

ABC sucks so bad, I watched every day. If the ratings dropped. it might be because of the dvr. I have to work. All ABC showed after was a bunch of uninteresting shows and cop dramas. Please bring back FlashFoward

I support everything that has been posted here. The Flashforward series has a great storyline and ABC doesn’t give any show a chance at all. I discovered Flashforward via netflix and I was captivated. Its too bad that all that ABC wants to produce anymore are sitcoms that have already been done in the 80s and 90s only with a twist and horrible actors and stupid reality shows that after is all said and done aren’t reality because of all the staging the studio does. They might as well run re-runs of Rosanne and the Golden Girls for all the thought that goes into the shows that are on today, at least Flashforward was an original idea for a show and was compelling to watch.

I totally agree, I found this show on netflix as well and fell into the show deep. Upon great disappointment when there was no where to click for a season 2. I do agree that ABC is becoming predictable with the current shows, and they do keep canceling shows that people get involved in. Maybe the ratings were bad because there was no previews for it or publicity. I never heard about it and would totally have watched in on TV. We should all ban together write ABC and get back the good television shows.

I think ABC sucks. They go on and on with promoting shows and get everyone interested and then they cancel everything. They need a new PR department and they need new “suits” to take over the shows they allow. Stop allowing shows for one season and then dismissing them! There is no consistency, and it has me in a spot where i never want to watch shows on ABC because once i start to get into one, they tend to be bound for cancellation. So why waste my time watching any episodes of any show on ABC!

    Just discovered via NetFlix.
Superb story line. Fine acting (credible). I was stunned upon discovering it was canned! :o( I so desparately wanted (at the very least) a season two.
Instead, we contend with dimwitted comedy shows, low-rent reality shows, nonsense aution shows (need I go on)?
Let’s pray SciFi will purchase and add sequels. :-
