Cooking Channel notes that season three of Not My Mama’s Meals will kick off on January 2nd and season two of Drop 5 lbs with Good Housekeeping debuts on January 19th.

NEW YORK, NY – December 3, 2012 – Cooking Channel starts the New Year off right with a pair of shows offering viewers healthy food alternatives, cooking tips and workout techniques, while still having fun in the kitchen. Bobby Deen returns for the third season of Not My Mama’s Meals, premiering Wednesday, January 2nd at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT, as he continues to take his mother’s (Paula Deen) recipes and transform her southern comfort food into lighter, leaner, but still delicious versions of her dishes. Special guest appearances this season by Carla Hall and Eden Grinshpan.
Continuing its promise of small changes that deliver big results, season two of Drop 5 lbs with Good Housekeeping premieres Saturday, January, 19th at 10:30am ET/7:30am PT. Melissa d’Arabian (Ten Dollar Dinners) returns to host the series, based on the magazine’s popular weight loss column, and is joined by Good Housekeeping Nutrition Director Samantha Cassetty and Aarti Sequeira (Aarti Party). Each week Drop 5 lbs with Good Housekeeping offers tips and tricks to make weight loss easy and manageable.

Premiering Wednesday, January 2nd at 9:00pm ET/ 6:00pm PT – SEASON PREMIERE! “A Little South in Your Mouth!” Bobby Deen learns how to make light, but still flavor-filled beer for his chicken at the Brooklyn Brew Shop. Brew experts Stephan Valand and Erica Shea whip up a special light brew that anyone can do at home, laced with flavors of savory orange and coriander. Later, Bobby’s good pal Vanessa Cantave stops by to eat and cook some delicious Drunken Chicken and Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Cakes. It’s a little south in your mouth!
Premiering Wednesday, January 9that 9:00pm ET/ 6:00pm PT “Quick and Easy” Bobby Deen heads to Baby Cakes to learn how to make a healthy brownie base to transform his mother’s over-the-top dessert. Then, his Southern friend with flair, Carla Hall, stops by to see if Bobby’s recipes can beat out his Mama’s. They’re having The Son’s Chicken Pot Pie, a Butter-less Banana Split Brownie Pizza, and whipping up Bobby’s Chocolate Egg Cream. It’s sure to be a blast!
Premiering Wednesday, January 16that 9:00pm ET/ 6:00pm PT “Party Favorites” Bobby visits Colette Burnett at Super Wings, a famous wing joint, where he learns how to make a healthy buffalo sauce filled with a zippy mango flavor. Later, Bobby’s friend Eden Grinshpan stops by to help get cooking; first heating up their mouths with Bobby’s Buffalo Chicken Sliders, and then cooling them off with a refreshing Lemon Sorbet Punch, and there’s a sweet Five Layer Bark in there, too.
Premiering Wednesday, January 23rdat 9:00pm ET/ 6:00pm PT “Junk-Less Food” Bobby Deen visits Joe’s Italian Deli where a gregarious father and son team teach Bobby how to make Low-Fat Mozzarella Cheese. Then, one of Bobby’s best friends and trainer swings by for a man’s meal, made up of a “Skinny Darrell” Wrap with Oven-Baked Chips and Bobby’s Stuffed Red Peppers, and he’s making sure Bobby isn’t slacking in his workouts!
Premiering Wednesday, January 30th at 9:00pm ET/ 6:00pm PT “It’s Brunch Time” Bobby Deen heads to Waffle and Wolf to learn how to make healthy waffles that are delicious and nutritious. Bobby then whips up a hearty Kale and Bacon Frittata. Bobby’s fitness guru friend Allison Hagendorf also swings by to help Bobby in the kitchen with his waffle topping, a vegetable filled ratatouille that’ll make your mouth water.

Premiering Saturday, January 19th at 10:30am ET – SEASON PREMIERE! “Look and Feel Younger” The Drop 5 team is back with easy nutrition and exercise tips for feeling and looking younger. Host Melissa d’ Arabian cooks up Balsamic Roasted Pork with Berry Salad and tender, flaky Flounder with Corn and Tomatoes.
