In its first season, the Queen of the South TV show did pretty well in the ratings on USA Network. Queen of the South stars Alice Braga as Teresa Mendoza, a woman on the run from a powerful drug cartel, who seeks refuge in the U.S. The USA Network cast also includes Veronica Falcón, Hemky Madera, James Martinez, Joaquim de Almeida, Gerardo Taracena, Peter Gadiot, Carlos Gomez, Mark Consuelos, Rafael Amaya, and Jon-Michael Ecker.
