While the press information for last Thursday’s finale of The Astronaut Wives Club promoted it as only the “season finale,” it seemed pretty clear that, once the episode aired, the show had ended for good. Many viewers had a tough time envisioning what a second season could be.
Now that the finale has aired, ABC has confirmed that episode 10 was indeed the last episode of the low-rated series, eliminating any question that there will be a second season.
For her part, series creator Stephanie Savage agrees with that decision and told TV Insider, “To us on the creative side, it’s always been a mini-series with a beginning, middle and end, with no possibility of a Season 2 because we told the story. I love that a lot of people love the characters and the world, but I don’t really see how this story gets told over again.”
Based on the book by Lily Koppel, The Astronaut Wives Club focuses on seven women who were key players behind some of the biggest events in American history. As America’s astronauts were launched on death-defying missions, the lives of their young wives were transformed — seemingly overnight — from military spouses to American royalty. The cast includes Yvonne Strahovski, Dominique McElligott, Odette Annable, Joanna García, Erin Cummings, Azure Parsons, Zoe Boyle, Bret Harrison, Aaron McCusker, Wilson Bethel, Kenneth Mitchell, and Desmond Harrington.
What do you think? Do you like The Astronaut Wives Club TV show? Would you have been open to watching a second season?
Is there any way I could get a dvd of the series. I love all things early space and so thoroughly loved this series.
Hi Barbara, I love all things early space too and loved this series. You can purchase the complete series on DVD at Amazon for around $13. Here is a link. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072N9GB6Z/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_tai_-76lBb95Q7XH7
My husband and I Loved this show. But ABC always starts great summer shows and end them sometimes after only a few weeks. We are then left hanging. I vowed to not watch a new show until it’s season ends. If you start a summer show with already low view schedules or put a good show in a bad time slot what so u expect. It’s unfair to the viewers.
I loved the show n Would love for more. Please
I am watching it now on ABC.com several years after it was cancelled. Yes I would have watch season 2 if for nothing else just to see Wilson Bethel.
