The Finder: Hanson’s Plan to Bring Duncan & Stults Back to Bones

Canceled The Finder on FOXIn a tribute to Michael Clarke Duncan, Bones creator Hart Hanson told THR that there were plans to bring his character and Geoff Stults’ character back to Bones this season. Their spin-off series, The Finder, was cancelled in May.

He said, “The Finder started as an episode of Bones, and we were thinking of having MCD and Geoff do one more crossover episode on Bones so that we could tell the Bones fans what happened after The Finder didn’t come back.”

“We put all that on hold when he had his heart attack in July, but we were hoping he’d be back. [Bones star] David Boreanaz directed a Finder episode, and David and MCD really bonded. They’re both team-playing, big-hearted, noisy, jock-type wonderful guys. We’re just now coming to grips with the idea that MCD is gone. I sure hope we can think of something that would do him proud.”

Hanson also notes, “When we shot that last scene of The Finder this year, we were hoping it would be the season finale, not the series finale. If I had known it would be the end of our series, the last image would have been Leo standing outside his bar, looking out at the weather vane and being the last man standing, with everyone else scattered to the wind.”

The Bones creator also said that Duncan’s part was itinially written for a “Sam Shepard type” — an old, white, and skinny cowboy. Hart said that he completely rewrote the character for Duncan and added, “A lot of actors are nothing like what you see, but MCD was very much like what you see onscreen: that big smile, that big voice, not a bit of a bully to him. He doesn’t alpha-male anybody, though he could alpha-male anyone he wanted. He was just a genuinely good guy.”

What do you think? Would you like to see The Finder wrapped on Bones? Should they still do the crossover now that Duncan is gone?

I had recently found this show. LOVED IT!! Hate to see how it ended so badly. I also love BONES. Was excited to see some of the same characters from there on this one. Please let this show have a happy ending.

This is one of the best shows in years. How can this not be continued? Not everyone wants to watch reality shows. Come on!!

I just discovered this series on netflix and just love it! Then I find the series ended disastrously. I feel like a friend just died that I didn’t know was sick!!! Please give us closer with at least an episode on Bones.

PLEASE bring back the The Finder or do a wrap up episode of what happened to everyone, you could have Leo die while Walter was gone to jail, and leaves Walter the bar. Walter finds Willa or she comes back since its been awhile.

Please don’t let the sad finale be the end of this show…I enjoyed all the main characters and what a heart breaking ending.

Unlike all good things, this television series should not have come to its end. The show, showed great potential for a large fan based following. I was not even aware of the series even existing, since I do not have cable and rarely had time to watch over the air channels, with my six year old dominating our only means of tv viewing with endless reruns of Sponge Bob Square Pants and the like cartoons and Nickalodian sitcoms on out NetFlix account. It’s a bummer when fun tv shows like The Finder, Psych, and others like them, loose out just for the sake of ratings. Too bad, too bad, for the industry and the viewing public.

I never saw the bones episode regarding the finder. I must have missed it. I came across this on Netflix. I watched the entire season, every night, in one week. It was great! I loved it! I want more! I can’t believe it just ended. I want to “see” what happens to Willa. Walter can’t go to prison! Marshal Isable lost her badge…she has to get it back. Poor Leo, left alone! What about Timo? Can’t one of the cable networks pick it up? Please bring it back. I’m 57 years old and I’m tired of the other trash on tv and the stupid reality shows.

I saw the first show when it started on Bones. My daughter and I love this show. We watched every episode on Netflix. What Hart Hanson should do is put it on a cable
network not one of the big 4. It would be great on USA network or TNT.
