The Muppets are ready to return to ABC after a little break for the holidays, but fans will see some big changes to the series. After a behind-the-scenes shake-up, there is someone new running the show, and ABC is hoping that this series is revived.
ABC admitted at the Winter TCA’s that the network was disappointed with the show, but they have not given up hope yet. A new outlook for Miss Piggy, a new villain to deal, and some fresh Muppet faces are just some of the changes teased in a new preview released by ABC for the mid-season return.
ABC shared the following about the return of The Muppets:
In this episode, the whole crew just returned from hiatus, and everyone is rested, recharged and ready to get back to work. But when a new branding guru (Utkarsh Ambudkar) comes in to revamp “Up Late,” the gang rallies together and realizes that they don’t need gimmicks and hijinks; they just need each other and a couple of familiar tunes to get them back on track. The episode also features guest stars June Diane Raphael, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.
