NBC’s new comedy, Up All Night, may not be a big success but it’s one of the best performing shows on the network right now. It’s not a big shock that they want some more.
Starring Will Arnett, Christina Applegate, Maya Rudolph, and Jennifer Hall, Up All Night has been averaging a 2.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.63 million total viewers. It currently ranks as NBC’s second-highest rated show of the season.
Up All Night received a full season order last month, along with fellow newbie Whitney. Now, the peacock network has increased the sitcom’s season order by two episodes, bringing the total to 24.
It would certainly be difficult to classify the show as a hit but it may be one of NBC’s best chances to build one. NBC’s had dismal luck with new shows this season with the exception of Whitney and possibly Grimm.
Come January 12th, they’re switching Whitney to Wednesdays and giving Up All Night the post-Office slot, no doubt hoping that the strong lead-in will help boost the show’s ratings. Hopefully that little gamble doesn’t hurt both new sitcoms in the process.
What do you think? Are you a fan of this show? Are you glad there’s going to be more episodes? Wat do you think of the scheduling change?

I hadn’t heard of this show but they happened to play it on the plane when I was traveling a few weeks ago. I thought it was funny. I have been watching it since. I’m glad to hear it’ll be around a little while longer. I wasn’t sure since I’ve seen little or no promotion for it.
My husband (who is 35) and I laugh out loud several times each episode and he is NOT the kind of guy who loves sitcomes at all. I can’t imagine anyone who has kids not thinking this show is so spot on and funny. That is exactly what life with a baby is like and it is one of only 2-3 shows that my husband and I watch together. So glad for the new episode pick up!
One reason I don’t watch Up is the boss character. She’s irritating and I see enough of that during the work day, I don’t need to see it at night as well.
Well cool, I hope they do the same for Whitney, they should have done Whitney forever ago now. And I hope they give Jason Lee a permanent spot on the show. My name is Earl was great, Memphis Beat wasn’t as great, but still Very good. Him and Christian Slater, two movie stars that tried TV, but keep getting screwed.
