The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

I just herd that it was canceled…i m so mad…i LOVE this show and i hate when they leave u at a cliffhanger like they did…that is leaving those 900 n some thousand people mad and annoyed…i mean at least have a few episodes to sum everything up…I used to watch the secrect life but now the same thing is happening over again…its BORING…10 things was going somewhere….along with Geys Anatomy & Degrassi, 10 things was one of my top favs…ive been waiting to see what happens since the season finale…but now i dont think ill ever know :'(

there has got to be a season 3. this show helps teens understand that they are not the only ones who go through teenage things like growing up and hormones and how to deal with them. please dont take it off the air
I wonder if they are counting both tv and online views, because I can’t watch any shows till a week after they show on tv (I don’t have tv) This is the second good show they’ve cancelled! I’m still mad about Kyle XY.
I watched 10 Things everytime it came on. I want to see the rest!! GAH!
The show was really good and very interesting with a good plot. Its sad to see it go, but it would be better to see it come back.

I discovered the tv show ’10 things I hate about you’ quite resently, I am a big fan of the movie and when I discovered there was a TV show I was really excited , I watched all the episodes in a week! And when I looked for the next season, I came across that it was cancelled. They are so quick to throw away something that is so amazing. Not having the same amount of viewers only mean that the time was not appropriate to release them or it could many other factors; but one thing for sure is, the show has many fans and it should be given another chance. It was a great ideas to create it, however, a very bad one to destroy it… Hope they will at least consider making a few more episodes and see how it goes.
It really bugs me when they cancel shows and leave things hanging. If their going to cancel a show atleast have respect for the viewers who have been loyal and give it a conclusion. Another issue i have with abc is the fact that they cancel some shows yet leave some of the dumbest ones of air. No offence to all you Secret Life fans, but im 0 years old and have been through high school. I Loved that show, and I have a 11 year old daughter. I was really looking forward to another season. What’s wrong with these people cancelling favorite shows so we can have some more stupid shows I couldn’t care less about.
I HATE it when shows get cancelled when theres a cliffhanger at the end what is the point all it does is annoy people they should at the very least have another season so we can see what happens next because that was the most annoyingest ending EVER!!!!!!!
This was one of the best shows ever made. I can’t believe they pulled the plug on 10 things. Me and all my friends got together to watch this show. As well as Make it or break it and Secret life. I am now stuck watching reruns with no ending. Thanks a lot ABC Family.
Bring the show back it is a good show who’s ever idea it was to cancel the show is a DUMBASS!!
