Max and Caroline are now out of time, as well as money. Today, CBS cancelled the 2 Broke Girls sitcom, after six seasons on the air.
The comedy follows the unlikely duo of streetwise Max Black (Kat Dennings) and formerly-wealthy Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs), who work in a greasyspoon diner that they now partially own. The cast also includes Garrett Morris, Jonathan Kite, Matthew Moy, and Jennifer Coolidge.
The show has been a solid performer for CBS since it began, and season six was no different. Although the ratings had dipped some, the sitcom was still bringing in decent numbers, with the most recent season earning an average of 1.31 in the 18-49 demo and 5.621 million viewers.
A renewal — perhaps for a shorter season — seemed likely for 2 Broke Girls, but CBS was locked in negotiations with the show’s producing studio, Warner Bros. TV, for some time. The studio owns the series outright and profits from it heavily, while CBS receives no backend. Although negotiations went down to the wire, Deadline has confirmed there will be no seventh season.
Recently, we asked viewers if they’d watch another season of 2 Broke Girls and while a majority of 65% said they would, 29% said “No, it’s time for the show to end.”
What do you think? Do you watch 2 Broke Girls? Would you have watched a seventh season on CBS?
“2 Broke Girls” is one of the greatest guilty pleasures in the history of U.S. network television, along with “Two and a Half Men”. I am very, very sorry to see “2BG” fall by the wayside because of really limited space on the CBS schedule for next season, and the fact that it is produced by an outside studio. At least “Two and a Half Men” had a proper send-off. But personally, I only had interest in “2 Broke Girls” all this time.
Thank heavens! It’s about time. This show was awful beginning in season 2 and got disgustingly worse. Won’t miss this one at all!
Wow! So unfortunate that a show could air for 6 seasons and the network can’t have the decency to give it a proper send off.
Another outlet like Hulu or Netflix would be foolish not to give it another go around.
Watched the first 3 or 4 seasons but something about it just couldn’t keep my interest and watching it started becoming a chore for me!!!!
We need Season 7!! There is to much going on to end. Season 7 needs to see atleast one of the girls getting happily married!! Surprise double wedding??? One or both on the road to major success. We all love fairytail endings!
I absolutely love 2 Broke Girls and I am very sad to see that it has been canceled. I wish another network would pick it up
I enjoy Kat and Beth a lot. They remind me of a modern version of Lucille Ball and Ethyl Mermom. Their physical comedy and perfect timing makes them a joy to watch. Jennifer Coolidge has a rare ability to perform a role designed for a much younger woman and, unless you know her actual age, she adds her own pizzazz, also with great timing. I wish you would reconsider another. season. It would be great to bring back the first young man who Kat met in pastry school and really have that love work out. The same for Beth, with… Read more »

I love 2 broke girls and would watch as many seasons as they could have.I don’t want you to cancel it . I’m running out of shows on CBS. I also loved code black that is no longer on.
About time it got cancelled. It was garbage.
Remember when Remington Steele was cancelled after season 4? The fans of the show went into very negative reaction and went into protest against the NBC network. This forced NBC to reverse their decision and bring the show back for a 6-episode 5th season. What if, 2 Broke Girls was picked up for a 13-18 episode 7th and final season on TBS or Netflix? Or, they can make a movie to act as a series finale of some sorts. Or, Do the same thing as what happened to Remington Steele 30 years ago?
Seriously? For THAT SHOW? LOL
Endless harassing of Han. Not funny anymore. Glad to know it has a good ending and time to move on.
I’m disappointed I like this show and I wasn’t ready for it to end.
NO!!! I wanted one more season to tie everything up!! So very disappointed!!
I think that this is a good place to stop the show. We can just assume that they got their happy ending: They have a successful business, one is (SPOILER) engaged and one is in a happy relationship. I’m fine with this.
