When the UPN network closes its doors (along with The WB network) in September, it will be the end of over 10 years of programming from the Paramount-owned network. Some of the UPN shows will continue for another season on the new CW network. Here are some that won’t be part of the new CW schedule.
Cuts – A spin-off series of the popular One on One series, this sitcom centered around a barber shop. The last original episode of the second season (#31) aired on May 11, 2006.
Eve – This sitcom starred Shelly Williams as a young beauty navigating the dating world. The series lasted three seasons and 66 episodes. The last original episode aired on May 11, 2006.
Get This Party Started – This short-lived party-planning “reality” series was cancelled a week after it debuted in February 2006. Former Extra reporter Ethan Erickson and Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari hosted the series.
Half & Half – Essence Atkins and Rachel True played half-sisters who discovered each other as adults. The series received two NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series as well as multiple cast nominations. The popular sitcom ran for four seasons and 91 episodes. The last episode ran on May 15, 2006 and left off with Mona choosing between Chase and Lorenzo. Though the series is not officially on the CW schedule, there has been talk that Half & Half may return mid-season.
Love, Inc. – This show centered around a full-service dating consulting firm and its staff as they deal with their own romantic entanglements. Cancelled after one season and 22 episodes, the last original show aired on May 11, 2006. If the UPN hadn’t folded, this show probably would have been renewed. BTW: this was the show that originally starred Shannon Doherty but she was replaced after UPN bought the pilot episode.
One on One – After the some of the characters moved to LA for the show’s fifth season (because of budget cuts), the show was cancelled. Episode #113 aired on May 15, 2006. The cancellation of One on One just three days after the broadcast of this episode left several loose ends unresolved.
Sex, Love & Secrets – This series starring Denise Richards was cancelled after only four episodes aired in the Fall of 2005. Reportedly 10 episodes had been shot. The series was originally titled Sex, Lies & Secrets, but UPN dropped the “Lies” and added “Love,” which they believed better reflects “the direction, tone and pacing” of the series.
South Beach – Co-executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, Vanessa L. Williams starred in this steamy dramatic series. The last of the eight episodes aired on February 11, 2006.
If any of these series receive a last-minute reprise, I’ll be sure to let you know! Stay tuned!
After the last episode aired of One on One I was losed and confused. I loved all the shows that were cancelled but One on One the most. Please BRING IT BACK!!!
I was really dissapointed to see that The CW Network cancelled all of my favorite shows, Eve, Cuts, Half and Half, and One On One. Those were some of the best ones. Come on, do the right thing, bring them back.
i want to know why they canelled one on one and girlfriends…they were wonderful shows toni left girlfriends the show isnt that exciting with only 3 girlfriends. i show girlfriends is coming on DVD which i am happy about.but when is ONE ON ONE COMING ON DVD that is a GREAT show. please just it on dvd REALLY SOON thank you for your understanding
How can you cut off EVE. I mean that show Cuts, One on One, Half and Half was all real.
i really hate that one on one is off the air also that toni is gone from girlfriends none of it makes sense to me you guys need to bring one on one back and fix girlfriends because with out the fourth girlfriend its stupid…
I enjoyed the show Half&Half very much and would like to know if it will be coming to DVD any time soon, because I would like to purchase the episodes. I would also like to know if Girlfriends will be coming to DVD. These were great shows on UPN and they are being missed, especially with Toni being off the cast of Girlfriends, she was my favorite. I do not understand why you would take tried and tested shows off the air and move in shows like 7th Heaven, One Tree Hill and Reba would this be because they are… Read more »
I can’t believe that the good shows were cancel. It makes no sense to cancel a show with many questions to be answered. The public would like to know what happen on half and half. I wasn’t into eve that much because it was a pretty boring show. Cuts had my full attention. Girlfriends isn’t funny anymore since Tony left. I hate to wish bad on any network but this one won’t survive.
lets just see the out come of the new cw.There were alot of funny shows that were cancelled like half and half ,cuts, one on one and ect.some of these shows could have bin saved.
The networks are all about numbers, and if it don’t make them any dollars, it doesn’t make sense. This is the main reason why cable, satellite, and dvd’s are so popular now. The viewer is becoming an endangered species. UPN/WB network was aware that they planned on selling or that the network was in danger of going under, why didn’t their marketing team put together some type of strategic campaign to SOS!(Save Our Shows)! I watch the few shows that crossed over to the new station but it just isn’t the same. Good Luck to all of you who will… Read more »
UPN MONDAY&TUESDAY NIGHTS WAS VERY INLIGHTING I’D LOOKED FORWARD TO THE SHOWS, IT’S REALLY NOT FAIR THAT OTHER SHOWS GET RECONGETION ,BUT WE COULDN’T EVEN GET A HEADS-UP ON THE SHOWS FINAL GOODBYE.
THIS NEW CW IS NOT GOING TO MAKE IT,THAT’S TO BAD.
The CW is nothing compared to its orginial parent stations. It is not right to leave as many show as they did unresolved. The least the station can do is show any last episodes that were never aired to give some people some closure. Expsecailly on One On One. I hate being left hanged to dry.
Half and half was a very good show and it was nice to kick back and watch after a long day at work or school. I was very dissappointed to see that the new cw did not take half and half as a show on their network, it was actually a very funny and interesting show. I still want to know who Mona will choose– Chase or Lorenzo. This show has to be brought back.
Geesh, The UPN and WB networks had good shows for the alternative audience. I doubt with the new CW they could do better than what the previous networks did. I believe that the CW will, after a period, start showing the same shows as the WB and UPN networks did.
Good riddance this network deserved to die and all the shows along with it.
i loved half &half ,eve, love inc.,cuts, and one on one please bring them back. there are only two show left. next thing you know they will all be gone i mean toni left girlfriends that says enough. you cut alot of good show the cw will not last long without them you rating will drop badly.
