There are 26 letters in the alphabet but NBC’s A to Z TV show only lasted five episodes before being cancelled. The peacock network has decided not to order any more installments beyond their initial 13 episode order.
A to Z follows the story of Andrew (Ben Feldman) and Zelda (Cristin Milioti) — two young people who are very different. Their relationship shouldn’t work and yet it does. Is it true love forever or just a detour in destiny? The rest of the cast includes Christina Kirk, Henry Zebrowski, Hong Chau, Lenora Crichlow, and Katey Sagal.
Debuting on October 2nd, the series got off to a poor start with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.79 million viewers. Viewership fell 24% in week two and the ratings kept falling every week after that. This week’s installment, opposite CBS’ returning sitcoms, hit a new low with a 0.7 in the demo and 2.49 million viewers.
Based on the numbers, it’s no surprise that NBC is cancelling A to Z. It is a bit surprising however that the show is staying in production. Eleven episodes have been shot and two more will be produced. Hopefully, the sitcom’s writer will be able to adjust the remaining scripts to bring a fitting conclusion to Andrew and Zelda’s story.
For now, NBC plans to air the eight remaining episodes. The Blacklist will take over the Thursdays at 9pm timeslot on February 5th.
Companion sitcom Bad Judge has also been cancelled.
What do you think? Do you like the A to Z TV show? Do you think that NBC should have cancelled it? Would you have watched a second season?
please i’m begging you please air it on any channel or just release it online on netflix or any other like daredevil of marval
I loved this show! I literally just watched all 13 episodes in 7 hours and I am so angry that it is canceled. the least nbc could do is release another 13 episodes so we could finish all the letters in the alphabet. idiots
I totally agree with that
so are there going to renew this…… kool
I LOVE A to Z. It had such a creative plot. Taking us on an adventure through their relationship from A to Z, such a cute idea. I am SOOO disappointed that they are cancelling the show.
so are there going to put back on the air or not!!!!!
I saw all 13 episodes in a day! I love all the characters specially stu. Cancelling the show was HUGE MISTAKE!!!
I hope another network decides to take it.
hopefully they could renew A to Z show…….
This was my fav new show and I was So Hooked on it and looked So Forward to each weeks new episode – Zelda is a doll and Stu is a blast 🙂 Plz NBC give it another chance
I love the show and the characters. Wish it could be saved.
I looked forward to this show every week. Actually missed it over the winter break.
Feel it was canceled way before it had a chance to show potential.
In today’s current sea of toilet humor and crappy shows this was a shining light. Bad move NBC.
Hope another network picks it up.
This show was funny with great potential. I would watch it on DVR after work, and sad tobhear its been cancelled. I thinkBetflix sheloild Definitely pick it up, so i can knw what happens when thry get to Z.
I really liked this show. I thought the writing was good and engaging. Really sad to see this cancelled. Are the networks able to track the shows that are recorded so parents can enjoy a guilty pleasure of kid free tv?!
so whats the news tv guide is it gonna be renew the good show or still gonna be cancelled…..
Coletta, I wonder the same thing bc I record ALL of my shows that way when the kids are down I can kick back and relax! lol
Loved loved loved this show and incredibly disappointed that it’s over.
Me and my wife loved this show and were upset that it was cancelled. Since bought all the episodes on I-Tunes and enjoyed them over and over. This was our first show that we enjoyed watching thoroughly together. It made us laugh out loud and tear up at times, but it was a well put together show with some creative casting that made you feel as if you were an intimate part of their lives. I hope Netflix or I-Tunes picks up the remainder… let’s see what N-Z holds!
I am not usually a television watcher, I don’t even own a television. Too much drama, hype, commercialism, ridiculous laugh tracks at raunchy jokes that feel moronic, I could go on, but I won’t. This was the one show, literally…the one show, that I watched (online). I actually looked forward to the new episodes 🙁
I love this tv season and wanted to buy the complete set when it was finished. Why did they have to go and cancel it? It was a nice, funny and enjoyable tv show and they always cancel the good ones. Wish they can finish there is only 26 episodes. :):)
so what the f@#k, is in going to continue or still called……
Noooooooooo! This was my favorite new show! So unique and the cast dynamic was magical. It was as if they had worked together for years. Scripts were clever and the characters were unexpected in a great way. I will say that I only watched this show online because the TV time slot was not convenient. I’d love to see this adorable show picked up by Netflix. I had several friends tell me they wanted to watch it but didn’t because they couldn’t watch it from the beginning. Netflix would fix that issue.
so keep it up, hopefully they put it back in this show…….
I thought A to Z was fun to watch. Stu was my favorite part of the show.
I thought the show got better as it went on. It’s to bad the new shows don’t have
more time to prove themselves.
