NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Very sad they cancelled.
Bring it back!
Why on earth did they cancel this show….My husband who is a disabled Veteran and I also …love this show it was barely getting started…What gives. Why cancel. I hate the slap but you still have it going …I don’t know who is in Charge at NBC of such things but they need to be fired! Seriously you did not give it enough time…My husband has a serious heart condition. I don’t even know if I can tell him…he will be deeply let down…Do something this is a travesty!
The show was exciting and very realistic. KEEP IT ON! there IS NO REASON TO WATCH NBC if they cancel the only good shows they still have!
I loved this serie that remember me the cold war ambiance in Europe in the 70/80.
The brutal cancellation of this serie is sad.
Love the show! Try another night other than Thursdays.
Why are people acting as if the show ended with 5 episodes?
Episode 9 is coming this Thursday. It just isn’t being shown on NBC, but rather on my Comcast “In Demand” for free. Most people probably still have access.
I just hope that by Episode 13, that they come to a conclusion.
If this show was on USA Network, it would be a smash hit – much, much better made that their Dig, which is so slow moving.
We liked this show. It was good and entertaining. Hope NBC airs the remainders of the Episodes to close out story lines. Great cast!
We really ejoyed Allegiance -an interesting plot -great acting – complex characters.
I feel cheated!
I think this show is amazing! They are crazy to cancel it!! The most part of the shows are nothing, but I think that is aired at the wrong time and the wrong day.
The least they could do is release the remaining episode after taking it away from us
This is so typical of all good TV shows. I have invested so many hours to a good show, become involved with the characters and without a shoutout to quit watching as it is going away The hardest to take was Commander in Chief and I swore it wouldn’t happen again to me. Four good cancelled shows later I am still here ranting!!! Someday I will learn.
I had recorded all five episodes & watched them back to back & found it a very interesting show, enough that I looked to see when it was coming back on & am disappointed its been cancelled. The demographics they polled are too young to remember much before the cold war ended so it maybe is only more appealling to an older audience.
Very disappointing. Loved the show, the plot and the actors.
I loved the show
I loved this show. Thought it was well written with great and interesting characters. I look at some of the ridiculous shows that networks give 2 full season to catch on but an intelligent show like this they make a decision after 5 episodes. No wonder I have so many friends that don’t watch TV anymore!! I would hope that would at least run all of the episodes so we can see how it ends!!
At least end it do not leave us hanging
