NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
That was a really good show. Some people have no taste.
That is so political. This was a great show in a long time. Loved it. But politics got in the way.
No way I’ve been waiting patiently for this show to come back! And now to hear this bad news…nbc wrong move! I loved that drama love suspense show!
I cannot believe they cancelled such a great show it was awesome!!! bring it back!!! They should forget tv ratings most people stream online these days so the ratings will be bad!
Loved the show was awaiting it’s return , sorry to hear it was canceled , wish they would bring it back .
Allegiance was a great show. Big mistake to cancel it!!!!!!!
Hi Glitz, bunches of Americans loved this show, but we are not in a position to be surveyed (ratings methods are so outdated), as we are working long hours, driving on the freeways and watch after the fact – online. This was a great show, an expensive show, and totally mishandled. The writing was superb. It was one of the best shows I have seen since West Wing and 24. You are right – lot’s of stupid stuff on TV. Take care
My family love watchung the Allegiance. It is saddening to see the indication of what and why the American viewers would rather patronize stupid shows like the Kardashans and some other low class quality tv shows and idiotic sitcoms in lieu of the more intelligent and informative and interesting series.
Sorry the snow was cancelled with out a fair shot…it was a great show
It’s such a bummer that the show has been canceled. It was about the only one I was looking forward to seeing come back! I’d MUCH rather watch that than Shades of Blue. I’m very underwhelmed by that show… The emotional twists and questionable loyalty kept me watching!
Must say that I truly enjoyed watching Allegiance and all 13 of the episodes. The writing and acting were terrific. It kept me wanting to see more episodes. Please bring this show back for a second season…it deserves it.
Allegiance is great .im been watching seanon 1 on Foxtell. I really wish the show had not been canceled .Its full of suspense and action .what elst do you need in a tv show.
Loved Allegiance. So disappointed series has been cancelled. Thought it was really good.
its sad Allegiance been cancelled, i really liked it its was one of my best show in NBC i think that they should re consider their decision of counseling it and renew
Really loved, Alligiance, can’t understand why it was cancelled….like to think there is some type of conspiracy theory behind its demise.
