Sarah Paulson is returning to American Crime Story. Deadline reports the Emmy-winning actress has joined season three of the FX TV show.
Initially, season three ( titled Katrina: American Crime Story) was supposed to the second season of the crime drama anthology. However, FX postponed the season and replaced it with The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, which is slated to debut in early 2018.
According to Deadline, the focus of Katrina has shifted and will now center on Dr. Anna Pou (Paulson), a staff member at New Orleans’ Memorial Medical Center during Hurricane Katrina, who made the decision “to euthanize critically ill patients after being trapped in the hospital for days without power.” The story is based on the book Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink.
Previously, Annette Bening, Dennis Quaid, and Matthew Broderick were tapped as leads for American Crime Story‘s third season. But now, producers are looking for new characters and Paulson is the only star attached.
Katrina: American Crime Story is slated to debut in 2018.
