Last night, NBC aired the season finale of American Odyssey. Though the show’s ratings have been very poor, there’s apparently still some hope that the drama will survive to see a second season.
Last night, executive producer Peter Horton wrote, “Seeing your comments all season, but especially tonight, best fans ever. Will let you know about season two tomorrow. xo #AmericanOdyssey”
Unfortunately for fans of American Odyssey, the ratings have not been good. The series debuted to low ratings — a 1.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.372 million viewers — and they’ve gotten much worse since then. Last week’s installment hit a new low with a 0.4 in the demo and 2.2 million.
6/29 update: Series co-creator Adam Armus has tweeted, “No news today dear #AmericanOdyssey fans. See you here tomorrow, same bat time, same bat channel.”
6/30 update: NBC has cancelled the series.

I can not believe they cancelled this show! My husband and I throughly enjoyed every episode. I was always on the edge of my seat! PLEASE, PLEASE bring back for a second season

LOVE this show, I was on the edge of my seat every week. Some other network should pick this up. NBC made a huge mistake!
What is wrong with NBC? They didn’t give this show a chance. I just told a couple of people about the show and they watched all the episodes in one day and the next day they thanked me for turning them onto this show. They LOVED IT! Maybe another network will pick it up, just like CBS picked up “JAG” from ABC (who cancelled after one season). “JAG” ran for 10 years! Listen up NBC.
Thoroughly enjoyed this program. Many twists, well written, never a boring moment and needs to be continued. Very disappointed to hear that it won’t be!
SO Frustrating and Discouraging!! PLEASE listen to the fans and give American Odyssey a Fair chance!! This was an Awesome show that my family and I couldn’t wait for each weeks new show!! I also hope they will bring it out on DVD as we will buy it!! You can’t just leave it ended like that!! PLEASE PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!

I’m very disappointed that American Odessy I has been canceled. It is a great show? I attribute the low ratings due to minimal advertising about the show and viewers being very busy in the summer. I’d like to see it return in the fall to give it a fair chance to succeed.

I am sick and tired of ratings! obviously someone is watching the show and really enjoy it. NBC have you ever thought that promoting the show during the season? It might grab someone’s attention. For some silly reason the networks find time for some of the stupidest show to stay on forever and good quality shows that has a good story line seem to get cancelled because of ratings. For your information, we do watch the commercials. That’s what it’s all about, right! Give the show a chance. You do have an audience out there.
Yes it’s unbelievable how stupid shows like shows the kardandesians and honey boo get renewed and this one doesn’t.
Yes there’s been limited advertising for the show. I have tried to tell everyone about the show and the usual response is “never heard of it”
I love the American Oddesy! I have watched it from the beginning and now have my husband watching the recorded series. The graphics are amazing. I expect that in a movie not a TV series. I hope Odell is back on soon. I think it was just bad timing running it against other major shows that have been on for a long time! Please continue it! I hardly watch TV at all but I love your show!!!

I loved this show! All the actors were truly amazing. I don’t know why there was a low rating? I never got bored once watching this show. I never get hooked on watching any tv shows but this one got me hooked. Thanks for providing an awesome show with great acting.
it was an edge my seat thrill type of show – Current as any show on TV – I really looked forward to seeing it.
My family and I have watched every episode. We can’t wait to see where it goes from here. It keeps our attention and keeps us always eager for the next. PLEASE DONT CANCEL!!!
