It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
I wanted season 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a great show, but for me the show ended on the episode 8. This was great end for everything, and other 2 episodes where just aftermatch. The betrayl of both goverment and the church, false hope which will fall to pieces, and just BRILLIANT, GENIUS – 10 minutes of the episode 8 says it all !
Really was looking forward to the 2nd season! I want to know what happens to the quirky characters I enjoyed so much. Weird time slot worked against developing an audience base. I am sad.
With so many people posting comments about this untimely cancellation of an incredible show, why don’t we gather our forces somehow and tell the network how we feel! They did it with Jericho and got a second season out of it…maybe we send the network hundreds of giraffe toys! HA!
This is honestly one of the worst pieces of news ive heard and trust me ive had a rough life. This is my absolute favourite show i cant even explain how unhappy this makes me
So disappointed– just air one more episode to bring the story to a natural ending!! This was such a great show!
I too, would like a wrap up of the story line.
Very true! I really need to know who is in that box!
Rotten ending without a next season. Feels like we all got setup for nothing. The ending ruined it all for me. No season two makes it the worst ending ever.
So sad there will not be a season 2. Was hoping to see how Jamie was going to get into the bunker, to see if Jamie could heal Rajj, to see if Leann would stir things up, and to see who was in the box! Loved this quirky show!
Completely ticked off! Why cancel a great show?
Really enjoyed this show! Hoping that they’ll be a season 2!!!
So sad! I really got into this show, so much so that I watched it again to figure out who was left in the bunker for sure. Now I will never know what happens after the Big Bang. Too bad NBC, you let we the fans down. SHAME!
I believe there would have been a new direction the show could have gone in the second season. Possibly, an even darker comedy. Too bad.
i am an audience of this series in China, it really takes efforts for me to find the resource of these video to watch, but what i want to say is that this series really worth it. it is not only a simple comedy but also contains many deeper reflections like love, belief and even politics, and it is really a show of wisdom and creations. So disappointed to hear the new that there is no season 2any more.
You can’t leave us hanging like that!!’
This was a good show. We need a season 2 !
What a shame they didn’t do another series, there were loads of directions they could have taken it, it was just left hanging there with fans wanting to know what was going to happen next. We get all the mundane stuff that keeps meandering on and on with the same boring stories week after week and the reality TV stuff that’s an insult to the intelligence and they get something that could be ‘different’ and they drop it. Typical so why am I not surprised.
Seems that shows that have, and require, some thought, and need attention paid, don’t make it. NOW, if it had been “You me & the Apocalypse, naked in the outback” it MAY have had a chance.
