Lifetime hasn’t renewed Army Wives for a seventh season but has instead ordered 10 additional episodes for season six. The cable channel initially ordered 13 episodes last May and has now increased that number to 23 installments. Prior to this, the drama’s biggest season order has been 19 episodes.
According to Deadline, the cast and crew are currently filming the sixth season and this move will keep them in continuous production. Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva are the cable channel’s strongest shows and they understandably want to keep them going until they can launch other successful series. Last summer’s new dramas — The Protector and Against The Wall — weren’t big performers. One was cancelled and the other hasn’t been renewed yet.
The original Army Wives actors’ salaries expire at the end of the sixth season. By tacking on additional episodes, Lifetime doesn’t have to renegotiate with them to get more installments. The cable channel is supposedly offering each of the leads an increase of $10,000 per episode, far less than what they’d get if their contracts were renegotiated. The longer season will likely be broken up into two parts.
The cast and crew were expected to wrap season six by February which would have allowed the actors time to audition for new pilots. With Lifetime ordering 10 more episodes, pilot season will be long passed by the time they’re available. Sally Pressman has a holding deal with NBC that will have to be pushed back and Catherine Bell had been fielding offers from networks for new pilots.
It’s been suspected that season six is the show’s last. If that’s indeed true, Lifetime is getting as many episodes as they can out of the cast without having to renegotiate and increase their talent costs.
What do you think? Will there be a seventh season or is season six the end? How long should Army Wives go on?

You cannot cancel the show after a finale like that. There was NO closure what so ever. You have to bring it back. I am sure the cast LOVE doing the show, and it is one of Lifetime’s biggest hits. Might as well keep the successful show going! It’s a win-win for you Lifetime!
I just watched the final Army Wives show and can’t believe the final show ended with a cliff hanger. What is on these peoples minds when they disappoint their faithful audience this way. I can think of many other ways this show could have ended and this was not one of them. Shame on you
I can’t imagine my Sunday night without Army Wives. I hope they can
pull it together for a 7th season.
Please don’t cancel Army Wives… This is a great show that
deserves great recognition for all their actors, writers and producers…
Let it continue…..

I just watched the final episode of Army Wives and can’t believe anyone would cancel a show and end it this way Please bring Army Wives back it’s a great show I know my opinion may not count but I may not watch lifetime anymoreif they cancel army wives.
PLEASE, PLEASE Do NOT cancel this program. Army Wives is what I look forward to EVERY week. It makes me so proud to be an American with two sons who have Army and Marine experience. All the other reruns on Lifetime are most of the time worthless. How many times do we have to watch those anyway! Pay the actors so we can see more of this GREAT Program!
Please don’t let Army Wives end!!! Me and my fiancé love it!!!!!!
Please don’t cancel Army Wives. There are so few good programs on. Wonderful program,
great writers, outstanding actors. Pay them and keep a great program on.
DONT CANCELLED THE SHOW.. PLEASE DONT.. THIS HAS CHANG MY LIFE AROUND..
This one of the best shows around and for lifetime to remove it from their line up is going to really hurt their rating. So please lifetime give the people what they want a season 7
Army Wives is one of my favorite shows. I hope it is NOT being cancelled. In my opinion there is very little decent shows to watch on TV. We have to pay big bucks for cable and then all we get is horrible ‘reality’ shows – the more they create the worse they get. The only thing they don’t show is going to the bathroom. Most of the new sitcoms are plain stupid. I don’t care for sports, so TV watching these days is drastically limited. It’s pretty sad when I sit for long periods of time watching the TV… Read more »
Ditto her remarks. Could not have said it better. Army Wives has opened my eyes to military families. I have a new found respect for these families and what they go through. I would like to know where is Kim Delaney’s character, Claudia Joy??
My sentiments exactly.
This is a really great show. Please keep it going. Good shows are so few and far between and this one deserves more seasons.
Please don’t cancel I’m disabled so its hard to find clean descent family shows! I love these guys they awesome! And it helps people to really see wat army family goes through and how hard to be single parent when ur spouse is deployed or hurt or even killed in action! Please don’t take this show away! Be considerate! God bless america!:)
Please keep Army Wives!! The best show on TV on all stations. So tired of reality shows and singing shows – got talent, american idol – they are all the same. Army Wives is probably very relatable to real Army wives. Keep the show it is the best thing on Sunday night and any other night.
