Lifetime hasn’t renewed Army Wives for a seventh season but has instead ordered 10 additional episodes for season six. The cable channel initially ordered 13 episodes last May and has now increased that number to 23 installments. Prior to this, the drama’s biggest season order has been 19 episodes.
According to Deadline, the cast and crew are currently filming the sixth season and this move will keep them in continuous production. Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva are the cable channel’s strongest shows and they understandably want to keep them going until they can launch other successful series. Last summer’s new dramas — The Protector and Against The Wall — weren’t big performers. One was cancelled and the other hasn’t been renewed yet.
The original Army Wives actors’ salaries expire at the end of the sixth season. By tacking on additional episodes, Lifetime doesn’t have to renegotiate with them to get more installments. The cable channel is supposedly offering each of the leads an increase of $10,000 per episode, far less than what they’d get if their contracts were renegotiated. The longer season will likely be broken up into two parts.
The cast and crew were expected to wrap season six by February which would have allowed the actors time to audition for new pilots. With Lifetime ordering 10 more episodes, pilot season will be long passed by the time they’re available. Sally Pressman has a holding deal with NBC that will have to be pushed back and Catherine Bell had been fielding offers from networks for new pilots.
It’s been suspected that season six is the show’s last. If that’s indeed true, Lifetime is getting as many episodes as they can out of the cast without having to renegotiate and increase their talent costs.
What do you think? Will there be a seventh season or is season six the end? How long should Army Wives go on?

Why on earth would you cancel a successful series? This series is amazing and I look forward to it every week. If you cancel the show, I’ll cancel the Lifetime channel!
This is no other TV show to compare with AW’s. I don’t know of one male or female actor that comes close to being below standard. The show always gets my attention and that of my family and friends. It’s always the first thing we talk about.
For the show to leave would create a void. Beside that Catherine Bell is an angel without wings. I’m an old veteran ant this show has given me a new life.
Please don’t cancel Army Wives!!! Everyone I know watches this show and we have debates on what’s going to happen next. This is the only show worth watching on LT and just as others have previously said “the only one without sex and poor language” I have seen. Just does not make much sense! This show is a tribute to the men and women fighting for our country and I thank them. Please renegotiate!!
Please dont cancel this show its the best show on tv i havent missed an episode just about every episode brings a tear or two to my eye.
Love Army Wives. Never missed an episode. Why doesn’t Lifetime appreciate that viewers watch and are invested in the show. Everything always boils down to $$$. If they want more money ask the sponsors. Hate to see this taken off the air. If Lifetime needs the money, make fewer crappy “movies” they produce. Tired of seeing women beaten and abused by some nut case. If extended, hate to see the show moved to a California base, but that is better than canceling.
If LT decides to really cancel the ONLY THING they have going for them…I won’t watch another movie or series on LT. My son is ARMY and this helps all of to get through the endless deployments…the endless worry knowing what our families are going through. Sad really that the only “clean” series that deals with daily life struggles is the one they choose to end…just doesn’t make sense.
I can’t believe Army Wives is being cancelled. It’s one of the best shows on cable
Please don’t cancel! It’s the best!!!!!!
I can not believe this show would end. Seriously, It is a very good show with serious values and shows what army wives go through and yes alot of it is very real. It is something that is supportive to those who go through this. this should NOT be s show that ends. i know so many people that watch this. Poor Poor choice of shows to cancel.
I hope that you don’t cancel army wives it is one of the best shows on tv.
Please don’t take Army Wives off, I have watched it from the beginnig my husband started watching it with me a few seasons ago and loves it too. Please keep Army Wives on for along time. Why is it when a show is really liked it is taken off and you put something stuid in its place. When something is good leave it on. The Army Wives fans love it and want it to stay.
I love this show and have never missed an episode. The cast and the show is the best out on TV. It makes you want more. I look forward to watching it every Sunday. I hope Army Wives continues because it has everything. (Love, friendship, relationships, problems in life and people, solutions, comedy, action, pain, heart and of corse the army.) I am not in the army but this show has made me better understand it and everyone that’s serving. Thank you for the show and to the men and women in the service.
Please don’t cancel Army Wives. It is the BEST show on TV and one where there is no sex or foul language. We need more shows with good morals for a change. Please have season 7.

I do not enjoy much current television, I do enjoy Army Wives and do hope it will return for a 7th season. With all the garbage we are asked to endure on television, can’t we keep one of the best shows on the air..
