Your Arrested Development dreams are finally coming true. Deadline reports season five of the Netflix series begins production next week.
After years in limbo, the new season will see the Bluth family return nearly four years after season four debuted in 2013. The cast includes Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Tony Hale, David Cross, and Alia Shawkat.
Speaking to Deadline, Bateman revealed season five will in part revolve around the death of Liza Minnelli’s character, Lucille Austero:
It was a story that Mitchell Hurwitz hatched after the Fox episodes. There’s no plan yet to do a third act, but if this season is embraced that is definitely a possibility. One of the major stories is the death of Liza Minnelli’s character and who did it. It’s not a murder mystery per se, but that’s one of the central threads.”
The new season of Arrested Development is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2018.
