Court will soon be out of session. NBC has cancelled their Bad Judge sitcom, deciding not to order any additional installments beyond the initial 13 episode order. Ten episodes have been completed and three more will be produced.
Bad Judge follows Rebecca Wright (Walsh), an unorthodox judge of the Los Angeles County Circuit Court. She’s tough-as-nails and one of LA’s most respected criminal court judges but has a truly wild lifestyle in her off hours. The rest of the cast includes Tone Bell, Ryan Hansen, John Ducey, and Miguel Sandoval.
The series got off to a disappointing start on October 2nd, registering a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.84 million viewers. The series held steady in week two which was a positive sign, especially since Bad Judge was airing opposite highly-rated Thursday night football games on CBS. Perhaps the numbers would start to grow?
Nope. The ratings trickled downward over the next couple weeks and then hit a new low this week when the CBS sitcoms returned. It drew just a 0.9 in the demo with 3.9 million viewers.
That seems to have been enough for the peacock network to declare that the show was over. NBC won’t be ordering any more episodes but (for now) plans to let the remaining eight installments air. The Blacklist is scheduled to move to Thursday nights at 9pm on February 5th.
Companion sitcom A to Z has also been cancelled.

Sooo tired of watching a new show, getting interested in it only to have it be cancelled within 10 or so episodes! I’m going to stop watching TV & stay strictly with movies! Come on networks! Give us a break! & Bad Judge was funny & entertaining – figures they’d cancel it…

I loved the show and am very upset that it’s finished. They finally got a good show on and they take it away. What a shock!!! This is why I watch CBS mostly. Very disappointed!!!
Bad Judge was one of only three shows I watch on network TV. I also feel it didn’t find its timeslot. Tending to watch it on demand the following day. I got a lot of laughs from this show and none of the jokes are mean spirited. Something like that is really refreshing. I almost cried when she got her van back. Lol
I did cry…lol I loved this show because even though her personal life is kind of a mess, she always does the right thing in court. This show touched your heart as welll as your funny bone.
I can’t believe they finally get a refreshing, seriously warm and funny show, and they cancel it. Loved the entire cast, and look who the producers were. How could they let this happen. Is there a petition I can sign to bring it back?

I love Bad Judge and you need to bring it back! Maybe not enough people have heard about it. When I asked my son he had never heard of it so maybe the P.R. was not good enough.

I hand ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHY you pick and choose what you keep and what you cancel.. Z But then you proved that with law and Order. And Law and Order: Criminal Intent. Why you would want to cancel the first actually FUNNY SHOW youv come up with since Saturday Night Live, is BEYOND COMPREHENSION.

Just like everything else that is great, you go and pull the plug on something too early. Must be a male that ejaculates too early as well. This is an awesome show. I am extremely disappointed that you are nixing Bad Judge. I guess all of you execs don’t think us common folk know what we like to watch!
