It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
This show is one of the best new shows on TV. Please do not cancel
They are making a big mistake is all i can say
Why do they always cancle the only shows worth watching. Come on CBS, there are regular people out here besides those who only watch those stupid yuppie shows that are riddiculious and you leave on the air forever. You didnt even give this show a chance!
I love this show. Networks need to understand that the TV landscape has changed. Ratings are irrelevant as more people watch tv on other formats. CBS airs so much crsp this show is much better and deserves to continue.
I really liked Battle Creek and I wish they had not cancelled it. I also do not understand why they won’t let Tom Selleck do any more Jesse Stone movies.
This is a great show. It was the time slot that stunk!
Both my wife and I enjoy the show and are very sad to hear it was canceled.
Please reconsider as the show was really starting to get interesting.
This is an excellent show and I look forward to it each week on my dvr (I work nights and sleep during the day) I appreciate the humor, sarcasm, back story and characters. The writers have set up an excellent show, they just need time to let it be known to the public. More advertising to promote the show would have been nice. The acting is spot on and realistic, no one breaks character to submit to cheesy formulaic renditions of other police shows. Everyone is rooting for Russ Agnew to break down his walls, but that’s not who he… Read more »
Best show in years. So annoyed that it’s been cancelled, but perhaps another network will continue it. I enjoy every character on it, the chemistry is excellent. I think I like because the characters are realistic, and it isn’t stupidly violent. Please reconsider this foolish decision.
WHY ON EARTH did CBS debut this well written entertaining program for Sunday nights against such favorites with obsessed watchers like Jackie (last season), Man Men (last season), Mr. Selfridge, as well as War Stories w/Oliver North and Game of Thrones. Any new program, no matter who was in it, didn’t stand a chance. Whenever I mentioned this program to anyone friend or family, they knew nothing about it. Two of my sons are Police Detectives, one in NYC and the other in SCPD on Long Island. They will usually take a look at most “police” shows” just to see… Read more »
I think part of the problem was that thrice-cursed NFL games ran long & those who DVR the series missed out. However, as my son is fond of telling me, “You’re not the demographic they’re looking for, Dad.”
Please bring back for one more season!!!
I didn’t think this show would be in danger of cancellation. i know myself I have to watch it on in demand at times due to my kids late games at the field as I’m sure many people have to do also due to just having things to do in life. networks have to take into consideration perhaps the time frame in which ratings started to go down. winter was higher I bet but as spring came maybe they fell only because people got out and schedules changed, not that the show wasn’t being watched. i love Russ and Milt… Read more »
I can’t believe they’ve cancelled this show, its so frustrating! So its not the same old NCIS or CSI or Law & Order spin-off, clearly we have enough of those on TV and they’ve been done to death. Ratings mean less and less every year that goes by, since more and more people don’t watch series or shows on TV any more, they’re consuming them at a time that’s convenient to them. When will the networks start realizing that judging shows on ratings alone isn’t going to keep working? Battle Creek was my new favorite show, a great cast with… Read more »
Love this show. Very sad it was cancelled.
