It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
I LOVE Battle Creek! I’m so frustrated with shows being cancelled without giving it a chance. There was talk about canceling it after only two episodes had aired. Like the Network has something better to take it’s place! I think not. Network execs need to get their heads out of their butts and be realistic. I don’t watch ANYTHING in real time. I DVR every show that I watch. Why? Because commercials are annoying and stupid. CBS, do the right thing and give Battle Creek a second season or half a season and see what happens. And PLEASE do actual… Read more »
The Show is to good to be taken off they have development the characters finally and the show is getting really funny
I love this show. The case is wonderful. The time slot they were given may not be the best. Please give them another try.
BattleCreek is a great show and we look forward to it every week. We are very disappointed with CBS not even giving it a chance. It really is a fresh new type of writing and the characters are great – flaws and all!!! Too bad.
I really like this show and so far we don’t have the answers we want. So if you cancel this I hope you wrap it up with a bow, if not then we want more.
Do not cancel the show. I really enjoy it and look forward to watching it every week. I really like Dean Winters’ role and I like the way Dean and Josh play off of each other. Please reconsider cancelling this show. Thank you
Battle Creek is a well-written show with depth and interesting twists. If it had started in September and aired on a weekday evening, it would’ve had the audience it deserves. Instead, it was launched in March, and it was on at 10pm on Sunday evening, when people are thinking about work. How can a show find its audience when you do that?
Please give Battle Creek a chance.
We love “Battle Creek”..what a shame! Should have been renewed for one more season. We’d record it or bring up on menu. I sure hope another network picks it up because it’s too good to let go. Not surprised to hear though..seems like the ones we really like…they do a away with. Other good cop shows cancelled were “The Good Guys” and “Detroit 1-8-7”. The actors’ characters are great with good story lines. I don’t get it.
We discovered this show late and are now watching all the previous show. It is really good and I don’t think it has been given enough time for people to discover just how good it is. I wish CBS would give it another try.
Loved this show Please do not cancel.
This show is difficult to find. Each Sunday I have to seek it out. But the characters and caters are perfect. I hoped it would last at least as long as Chaos. Another show poorly pitted against reality. But then, I’m old and still like scripted shows.
Now what they will show after cancellation?
Kardashians Dos reality lif or bruss jenners inner womanhood change or aanother cheap reality show?
I HOPE AMC OR FX PICK THIS SHOW UP,
AMC has been gaining viewers becauae of the good shows they have. These thre main network showing either 20/20 or dateline pr amazing race that make me puke ,
This is one show I really look forward to watching and of course, now you are cancelling it! I have enjoyed the cast and the “surprise” turn of events at the end of each show. Please reconsider and do not cancel this show. Please!
I LOVE this show! It’s got a fresh humor and will only get better with age. CBS – you are making a mistake by canceling this show. Big big big mistake 🙁
I really liked this show so it figures they cancelled it !! It had good plots, the romance was there and the relationship between the two cops was great. I also liked the supporting cast. I hope some other network picks it up. It doesn’t suprprise me that CBS cancelled it though…I try not to watch much on that network. It isn’t what it used to be !!!
