It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Please everyone, send an email to CBS.com (Broadcast Feedback at the bottom of their website). They aren’t going to read these comments.
Thank you for the suggestion!
Well there goes another show that I just got invested in….thank you CBS. They did that to Intelligence too and I was invested in that one as well. What is CBS’ deal with cancelling shows that need to be given a chance to get some buzz from the core group who enjoy watching shows that aren’t the reality variety. Reality TV sucks….(steps down from shoe box)
My husband and I enjoyed Battle Creek. It was a little slow getting started but by week three or four, it had caught our interest. We faithfully watched every episode including the last one. It will be missed.
Keep it!! It started out slow, but, usually first seasons do that. We have to get to know the characters and get pulled into their lives. That usually takes the first season. I really like this show and I have been pulled into their lives now! Give it another season before we decide on the fate of this show. Too many reality shows now 🙁 I get enough reality in my own life and I refuse to watch Reality plus DRAMA after a long day at work in someone else’s life! This show is entertaining and funny and I need… Read more »
Very disappointed that CBS has cancelled Battle Creek! Good characters with great chemistry. Drama and comedy in one show. Hopefully another network will pick it up. We can only hope.
I am very disappointed that you are canceling Battlecreek. I loved the show and I loved the two lead male characters.. I watch Madam Secretary and The Good Wife as well and it was a great Sunday night run with the three shows.
I hope you reconsider.
Thank you
I really enjoyed the show, I felt iike pieces were starting to come together. bad decision by cbs for canceling.
Give it a chance! So many stupid shows and you cancel one with great potential.
I think that Battle creek was just coming into it’s stride. I loved watching the character development and wish it had been renewed for another season. It was a smart funny show. Very sad to see it go.
I love this show, it’s well written and I know it’s started out slow at the beginning but it’s now picking up pace then why cancel? I vote to renew for another Season 2 now that Milt and Ross went thru a traumatic experience.
Show was nor promoted well.
My fav show on TV
I enjoyed the show too. I think it is unfair to cancel a series in the first season because you don’t get enough time to decide if you like it or not.
Do NOT cancel Battle Creek. Great acting writing and cast. WHAT can be done to save the show?
The show had low viewers for the finally because it was memorial weekend. I didn’t watch it that night I dvr it and watched it later like everyone else. Also you cancelled the show people didn’t want to get more emotionally attached to the show since they new it was ending. BRING BACK BATTLE CREEK!!!!!!!
I liked Battle Creek. The characters had already shown growth and good development. The story line was slow in the beginning but has really taken off. I thing the network is making a really bad move.
Love this show – well written and characters you want to know more about! Once again networks keep junk and cancel something worth watching!!!
