ABC has been searching for a ratings hit to fill the Sundays at 10pm timeslot. Turns out that Betrayal isn’t that show but could it still return for a second season? Has it already been cancelled?
Betrayal revolves around professional photographer Sara (Hannah Ware) and top attorney Jack (Stuart Townsend) who, despite being married to other people, have a torrid affair. Things become even more complicated when Sara’s husband and Jack end up on the opposite sides of a murder trial. The rest of the cast includes Henry Thomas, Chris Johnson, Wendy Moniz, Braeden Lemasters, Elizabeth McLaughlin, and James Cromwell.
The series debuted in September and got off to a slow start with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.16 million total viewers. The numbers got even worse in week two, dropping more than 24%. In week three, they dropped another 26%.

In short, the ratings were awful but the network didn’t pull the series off the air and a rep even said that ABC was sticking with the show. Why? Likely because they’d already cancelled another new drama, Lucky 7, and fellow freshman Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was also tanking.
Though Betrayal’s ratings have leveled off, that doesn’t mean that ABC is any more satisfied with the numbers and there’s just no way that they’re bring it back for a second season. It’s still on the air because they didn’t have anything to take its place.
The network has released their plans for early 2014 and, to no surprise, Betrayal isn’t part of them. That’s not an outright cancellation but, realistically, there’s as much hope of this show coming back as there being a second season of Pan Am or GCB.
ABC has taken to calling Betrayal a limited series which wouldn’t have stopped them from making a second season had the ratings been stronger. Hopefully for the fans who have stuck with it, the show will end in a satisfying way and won’t not leave a bunch of unresolved storylines.

I LOVED Betrayal & looked forward to Sunday nights for the first time in a very long time! The show was evolving well & had potential to be a long term winner. Shame on ABC for cancelling it! I too, am tired of wasting my time on this network, since they never seem to give a show the time it needs & deserves. PLEASE save Betrayal!!

I’ve been a huge fan since the 1st day as I truly favor the cast. The first few episodes moved too slowly to truly understand the plot. Once it picked, this show and it’s storyline became really intriguing. PLEASE SAVE THIS SHOW!

I am so tired of ABC putting these great showa on and just as you get hooked it gets cancelled. I really love this one!!! I couldnt wait until Sundays! I need to know mwho meets Sara. Who did she choose? This show has great potential for evolving. It has become customary for ABC to put something out and not give it a chance before they get the boot; Pan Am and GCB are the first to come to mind. Betrayal was an engaging series that should have continued. It is dissapointing to see how it has been discontinued. Why is ABC doing this to the viewers when this has a lot of potential ?
I LOVED this show. I pretty much figured out they were cancelling it as the last episode was so “final” with TJ moving to San Francisco and the matriarch shooting himself. I’m at least grateful they did finish the series instead of leaving us hanging, although I’d sure like to know who showed up at the restaurant. I would love to see it come back but it won’t.

This show cannot be cancelled! I loooove it! I actually like it better than Revenge. It definitely deserves a chance and I believe it has lots of potential.
Betrayal is one of the great shows , like Hill street blues, Flashbpoint, The good wife, and of course the Sopranos. Great acting , suspense, my favorite show , could not miss it , I am so disappointed if it is cancelled.
Please broadcast a season 2 of Betrayal l am absolutely hooked on this TV series and so are a lot of other Australian fans.. we would be devastated to find out its not going to air.
