ABC has been searching for a ratings hit to fill the Sundays at 10pm timeslot. Turns out that Betrayal isn’t that show but could it still return for a second season? Has it already been cancelled?
Betrayal revolves around professional photographer Sara (Hannah Ware) and top attorney Jack (Stuart Townsend) who, despite being married to other people, have a torrid affair. Things become even more complicated when Sara’s husband and Jack end up on the opposite sides of a murder trial. The rest of the cast includes Henry Thomas, Chris Johnson, Wendy Moniz, Braeden Lemasters, Elizabeth McLaughlin, and James Cromwell.
The series debuted in September and got off to a slow start with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.16 million total viewers. The numbers got even worse in week two, dropping more than 24%. In week three, they dropped another 26%.

In short, the ratings were awful but the network didn’t pull the series off the air and a rep even said that ABC was sticking with the show. Why? Likely because they’d already cancelled another new drama, Lucky 7, and fellow freshman Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was also tanking.
Though Betrayal’s ratings have leveled off, that doesn’t mean that ABC is any more satisfied with the numbers and there’s just no way that they’re bring it back for a second season. It’s still on the air because they didn’t have anything to take its place.
The network has released their plans for early 2014 and, to no surprise, Betrayal isn’t part of them. That’s not an outright cancellation but, realistically, there’s as much hope of this show coming back as there being a second season of Pan Am or GCB.
ABC has taken to calling Betrayal a limited series which wouldn’t have stopped them from making a second season had the ratings been stronger. Hopefully for the fans who have stuck with it, the show will end in a satisfying way and won’t not leave a bunch of unresolved storylines.

Love, love the show….wish they could find a way to revamp it ….even if with all new actors and actresses / characters….which seems to be the only way they could do it seeing as how they wrapped everything up at the end of Season 1

I loved the show, they always cancel good shows and keep the crappy ones…mind boggling to me…please listen to the comments and bring it back, you guys have taken too many good shows off the air…..come on….leave it on the air, give it another chance.

This is what happens every time you decide to give a new show a try…cancelation!?? I enjoyed watching this show every Sunday evening. Granted it followed anouther great show which may only made it hard to follow. Why not switch time slots and see what happens.I don’t wanna see it tossed so quickly! I’m so disappointed! Please don’t cancel this show it has such great potential!!
You’re right. They allow us to fall in love with a show, and then it’s cancelled. I loved Betrayal. Loved Deception. Even liked Emily Owens, M.D. and A Gifted Man, all cancelled. Then they go and mess up shows that are having a good track record, like Castle. I knew once they put Castle and Beckett together as a couple, the intrigue would be lost. Same on The Mentalist. The break up a good team that works…then try to insinuate Jane on Lisbon, or Lisbon on Jane….either way, the show loses its intrigue. Why can’t those people who are begging… Read more »

I agree with Lois! All the great shows that you look forward to watching when you never watch tv to begin with, all get cancelled. I am reaching the point of boycotting all channels that keep canceling decent shows. Look at White Collar? Its expensive to film. Well, they should have thought about that before they got people hooked on it. USA, if you cancel WC for a reason like that, clearly you have no consideration to your viewers. I love this show! I thought how great it was something different than another cop or hospital show PLEASE bring this back! I love all the actors in this as well….Jack (Stuart ) is hot! Must give this show another chance, perhaps a different time slot.
Love Betrayal, better than Revenge, lots better than most other ABC shows !!! Don’t take it off !!!!
ABC really sucks next they will say they are taking Castle off, the one s you should cancel are bachelor and dancing with the stars not something as good as Betrayal you really ought to get your heads out of your butts
I agree, but admit I have grown bored with Castle. I seem to be the lone person who felt pairing Beckett and Castle together would make the show lose its intrigue. I liked it better seeing them lusting after each other but knowing there would be no consummation because of their working relationship. Now, you can each plot ending from the gate…it’s boring.
I love Betrayal! I hope they bring it back.
Please bring this show back. Betrayal was a great show.
