ABC has been searching for a ratings hit to fill the Sundays at 10pm timeslot. Turns out that Betrayal isn’t that show but could it still return for a second season? Has it already been cancelled?
Betrayal revolves around professional photographer Sara (Hannah Ware) and top attorney Jack (Stuart Townsend) who, despite being married to other people, have a torrid affair. Things become even more complicated when Sara’s husband and Jack end up on the opposite sides of a murder trial. The rest of the cast includes Henry Thomas, Chris Johnson, Wendy Moniz, Braeden Lemasters, Elizabeth McLaughlin, and James Cromwell.
The series debuted in September and got off to a slow start with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.16 million total viewers. The numbers got even worse in week two, dropping more than 24%. In week three, they dropped another 26%.

In short, the ratings were awful but the network didn’t pull the series off the air and a rep even said that ABC was sticking with the show. Why? Likely because they’d already cancelled another new drama, Lucky 7, and fellow freshman Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was also tanking.
Though Betrayal’s ratings have leveled off, that doesn’t mean that ABC is any more satisfied with the numbers and there’s just no way that they’re bring it back for a second season. It’s still on the air because they didn’t have anything to take its place.
The network has released their plans for early 2014 and, to no surprise, Betrayal isn’t part of them. That’s not an outright cancellation but, realistically, there’s as much hope of this show coming back as there being a second season of Pan Am or GCB.
ABC has taken to calling Betrayal a limited series which wouldn’t have stopped them from making a second season had the ratings been stronger. Hopefully for the fans who have stuck with it, the show will end in a satisfying way and won’t not leave a bunch of unresolved storylines.

Give us 40 year olds some guilty pleasure! I enjoyed watching this and it’s been the ONLY show I’ve enjoyed watching at 10:00 pm. I don’t normally watch anything else that late, so this show kept me watching tv!!!! I hate all these reality shows on TV today so it’s a refreshing change………………………..PLEASE bring it back on. I will rally for ALL my friends to watch if that will help the ratings!!
Please DO NOT cancel this great show!!!! The plot keeps you guessing and the actors are fantastic!!!! Besides; I enjoy watching Sturat Townsend play this role. The chemistry between Sturat Townsend and Hannah Ware is explosive. This is an adult show and is nice to have something for adults to look forward to watching.
please bring back betrayal for a second season because it was a really good show & I looked forward to watching it. it was one of a kind & different to actually have something else on tv other then lawyer shows & different csi shows & etc. I want to know what’s going to happen to family? its a show that people can learn from on what kind of betraying someone that you love & how the damage can effect a circumstance or situation can cause a sinful outcome? the show brings the truth. it was a remarkable show. It’s already gone…..they wrapped it in the final episode of the season with T J going off on his own, and with Karsten (Big Poppa) going off in handcuffs
I really love the show. I do hope that it comes back for a second season. Give it another chance, it was good.

This was my favorite show it had all, that keeps you totally interested. Please bring this fantastic show back, you won’t regret it. Give it a real chance. At that time of the year a lot was going on. Think Positive.
I agree with Ted it was an adult show with a tally different story base and was refreshing to see this type of Drama vs. all the NCIS , LAW and Order etc types. Please DO NOT CANCEL!
One of the BEST programs!!! I was hooked from the outset as were my friends. How can you consider canceling such an addictive story line? Revenge and Resurrection pale in comparison to Betrayal. Keep this show PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
I really liked the show and was sad to see it go. There is some good actor (s) in the show. Good drama.
I liked having it on after Revenge. I will say 10:00 shows on the west coast is late for a lot of people. News at 10 in other states is good cause your done at 10:30. If you get up early the next day.

It is the best show on the air – can’t believe they are considering cancelling it! Love Revenge and Scandal but Betrayal is the best!
In my opinion “Betrayal” was one of the best shows in a long time. It was full of romance, suspense, drama and a reality that other shows lack. Perhaps the best way to end the show if that is the decision, is to write the script so that the couples will reconcile and get back together. It would be refreshing to view a program that shows married people overcoming such setbacks in a relationships. Specially when there is so little of that in today’s programing.
Actually, seems that is exactly what they have done……it seemed to have come full circle with Sarah leaving Jack and though not having moved back home, she and Drew were seen preparing a meal together; T.J. rode off into the sunset to discover his own life; Thatcher was jailed….seemed a lot like a wrap to me……..not much else to be said…unless a new season would bring on a new cast of characters. I liked the show as well, and hated to see it end in January, if it has truly ended.
Please bring Betrayal back for another season – really liked it.
