ABC recently cancelled several shows (Mixology, Suburgatory, Betrayal, etc.) and renewed many others (Resurrection, Revenge, The Goldbergs, etc.). What about the new Black Box series that airs on Thursday nights?
The show revolves around a beautiful and brilliant neuroscientist (Kelly Reilly) who’s hiding the fact that she’s bipolar. The rest of the cast includes Ditch Davey, David Ajala, Terry Kinney, Ali Wong, David Chisum, Laura Fraser, Siobhan Williams, and Vanessa Redgrave.
The show debuted on April 24th to a poor 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.87 million viewers. The ratings have gotten even worse as the weeks have progressed. This week’s installment hit a new low with a 1.1 rating and 4.31 million.
While ABC hasn’t cancelled Black Box, they surely will. The ratings have just been too low to be renewed for a second season.
The question now is, “Will all of the episodes air?” There are nine episodes remaining. If the ratings keep going down, the network could easily pull the show and replace it with reruns. Hopefully they’ll either air or release them so the show’s small audience can see them.

Here we go again! Another brilliant, sexy and intelligent show on the chopping block! I think the problem with the networks is their cow towing to a specific demographic….. They need to expand their demographic to include ALL of their viewers and they might be surprised at the numbers. STOP moving shows around into different time slots and sometimes different days, it can be disorienting for viewers. It is a great show. I wish it was left in it’s original time slot. I thought it was canceled.
I love this show and its getting better every week.There is no reason to cancel it. Its on on Thursday night, and many people leave townfor the weekend. Have you checked the on demand ratings. I came home too late to watch it and was up all night waiting for it to go on ONDemand. Many people do not know how to use the on demand venue. I think that it one of the best show on TV.
I enjoy watching BlackBox – I think I now have a better understanding of how the mind works and the impact on the brain when a medical condition or event occurs. I’d love to see the rest of the episodes; at the very least, this TV series should run through the summer. Blackbox and Rookie Blues make my Thursday nights!!
I LOVE this show! I was hooked from the first episode, and have watched several of them twice. It is so refreshing to watch an intelligent, intriguing show that is not just about murder, aliens, or deceit. I find Black Box to be heartfelt, inspirational, and gripping. Come on ABC! Properly promote this show! The wrong people get to do the ratings! There are probabky millions of viewers who watch Black Box but dont get to di the Nielson ratings.
shows are not made like this anymore! This show is so amazing I usually just watch shows when I get a chance, but this one I literally sit at the TV and just wait for Black box to come on. I cannot express how exciting this show is. It keeps getting better and better with every episode!!! PLEASE DON’T CANCEL THIS SHOW
I look forward to this show every Thursday since it first aired. It is one of the only shows I watch and has a great story line. Please let Black Box have many seasons to come. I love it too much to be cancelled!!
The show should be renewed for another season. It is a well written drama with a lot of potential. I feel that this show will catch on and be a success for the network
The premise of the show is interesting, but the acting skills of the lead actress is poor, it’s bad, it’s awful! I wish a new lead actress can replace this one!

Please DO NOT Cancel! This show is amazing! It’s a sleeper so they really need to get behind it and put it on some better nights and run back to back episodes to catch up for some that missed a really good series.
