Somebody new is joining Black Lightning. Deadline reports Kyanna Simone will recur on the upcoming CW TV show.

Based on the DC comics, the drama centers on Jefferson Pierce, a former superhero who returns to crime fighting because of his daughter, Jennifer. The cast includes Cress Williams, Nefessa Williams, China Anne McClain, and Christine Adams.

On Black Lightning, Simon will play “Kiesha, the partner-in-crime/best friend of Jennifer Pierce (McClain), who also attends Garfield High School. The daughter of Inspector Henderson (Damon Gupton), Kiesha will encourage Jennifer to challenge her image as the perfect principal’s daughter.”

The new series is expected to debut on The CW in 2018.
