Jimmy Smits won multiple awards for his work on the LA Law TV series back in the 1990s. Now, he’s back on NBC in another legal drama called Bluff City Law. Will his latest show also be a big success on the peacock network? Will Bluff City Law be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A legal drama, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Bluff City Law TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*6/16/20 update: Bluff City Law has been cancelled by NBC so, there won’t be a second season.
Why??? Please don’t cancel a really good show! I’m tired of finding a show I really like and having it pulled to make room for trash shows!
Please don’t cancel this show. I really enjoyed it. I’m 70 I’m sorry I’m not in your target group which really ticks me off because we make up a substantial amount of people. Anyway, I’ve been watching the shows Jimmy Smits has been in since NYPD Blue and I think he’s a really great actor! I thiñk you should give the shoe more of a chance to iron the kinks out it’s only right. I hope someone reads these comments. Everyone on here really liked the show.
This series is outstanding…acting, multiple storylines, sets. Really holds my interest! It would be a huge loss if this show is cancelled. Please shoot the 6 scripts and renew for another season. Love Jimmy Smits!
One of the seasons best shows! Hope you will reconsider.
Great show…..do not cancel.
Great series…one of the best. Last episode outstanding
Love the show please do not cancel
Our family loves this show. We look forward to it every week. Network brass should rethink. So much stupid programming goes on forever and they cancel Bluff City Law? Wait! Let it find its audience.
My family love this show. We are disappointed that they are wanting to cancel this show. I love all the characters and the story plots. The final episode was great. I looked forward to watching it on Monday night and find new things to be interested in as they did different cases. Its interesting, intriguing and fun to see
Please find away to keep it.
One of the best shows in years and it’s getting cancelled. No wonder network television is going down the drain.
Loved this show. Monday night time slot against The Good Doctor was unfortunate. #10 episode was so heartbreaking and well acted. Give it another chance.
At last, a chance to see Jayne Atkinson on a regular basis. Excellent show, excellent cast – gone too soon!
Excellent character development. Totally surprised that this show us being cancelled. So much garbage on TV and yet this show is being cancelled? Doesn’t make any sense
Never ceases to amaze me how networks keep garbage shows with no story line on the air and when a good one debuts they can’t wait to cancel them. The cancellation of this show is a great loss to viewers that like substance over nonsense.
So disappointed this has not been renewed. Jimmy Smits and cast are superb and story line never disappoints. One of the few really good new shows this season. Definitely a liss.
Bluff City please keep this on. Great to watch love court scenes.
