TV show description:
Writer Hank Moody (David Duchovny) was living the life of novels. His happily-ever-after included having authored a successful book, and spending the rest of his life with his lovely girlfriend, Karen (Natascha McElhone), and their daughter, Becca (Madeleine Martin). But stories don’t always go as expected and Hank is struggling with the changes in his life.
Ex-girlfriend Karen is now marrying the rich and stable Bill (Damian Young). After Hank’s novel was turned into a terrible film, the words that used to come so easily to him have all but dried up. His best friend and agent, Charlie (Evan Handler), works to get both Hank’s life and career back on track while trying to keep his own marriage to wife Marcy (Pamela Adlon) intact. A bookstore encounter with a woman named Mia (Madeleine Zima) will change Hank’s life more than he could ever have imagined.
Though he has yet to fulfill his own happy ending, Hank is determined to help his daughter Becca to find hers. In the midst of his mid-life crisis, Hank seeks fulfillment from drink, drugs, and an endless string of women when he really only wants the one that got away, Karen.
Episode #84 — Grace
Karen massages the situation — even though Hank is still not on board with Becca’s plans. At Malibar, Hank and Levon reconnect with Hank’s old student, Tara. Later, Hank manages to reassure Julia over a special dinner, urge Charlie to save Marcy, and also make his own life-altering decision.
First aired: June 29, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Californication TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for an eighth season? Was it time to say goodbye?
I just love the writing on this show. All the sex/nude scenes were unnecessary. In many ways, they detracted from the story. I have all the episodes on DVD. I wish they would pull an X-Files and make a movie or do a limited number of new episodes.
Coming from a writer,I wish they would continue with, at least, an eighth season. If only the writers could find the feel they had in the first couple seasons. Don’t get me wrong they’re all good. Just can’t get much better than the first two. Which alas, is the problem. Great show. Great writing. Great acting. Can’t ask for much more than that without jumping the shark.
Sad to see this one go, but it is time. Just like Dexter, Breaking Bad and The Big C, the story has been told. Hopefully, Hank & Karen will join Marcie & Charlie in a Ross & Rachel ending but given the show’s bent that’s not seeming too likely. Regardless, it has been a great ride with wonderful acting, great guest appearances, and terrific writing.
Rob Lowe, btw, has proven himself every bit as good as Johnny Depp.
This is the 5th years since the serial is still ongoing. It’s boring, but with him already!.
