CBS is still the most-watched network but almost all of their established shows are down year-to-year. Plus, none of their new shows can really be considered hits. Which will be cancelled or renewed? Stay tuned!
CBS shows this season (so far): 2 Broke Girls, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes, The Amazing Race, Bad Teacher, The Big Bang Theory, Big Brother, Blue Bloods, The Crazy Ones, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Elementary, Extant, Friends with Better Lives, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, Hostages, How I Met Your Mother, Intelligence, The Mentalist, Mike & Molly, The Millers, Mom, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Person of Interest, Reckless, Survivor, Two and a Half Men, Under the Dome, Undercover Boss, Unforgettable, and We Are Men.
There’s lots of data that CBS looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are typically the biggest piece.
Check other networks’ rankings:
ABC | The CW | FOX | NBC | ABC Family | TNT
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?
I’m so sick of new shows being cancelled so quickly. You don’t give them a chance to generate interest at all. And older shows you keep moving around until the people who DO watch them can’t find them OR they’re now coming up against already established shows that people watch and when they don’t win the timeslot, out the door they go! Totally illogical the way this is handled and decided. I DON’T CARE about their reasonings behind it all. If a show is attracting millions of people who watch, then the people behind them must acknowledge there’s redeemable qualities… Read more »
I love Intelligence very much. You people put everything on Monday and Tuesday , the busiest two nights and nothing on W, th or F. I record it so I can see thoses dimples on Josh all week.
PLEASE KEEP THE MENTALIST !!! GREAT SHOW !!
Its normal that the succes is on the rest of world than in U.S.
The Show is for clevery peoples, there is no sex,no blood and Patrick drink only tea and not alcool.
All of the shows are full of alcool(supernatural for example,i like it but they are always drink alcool).
I think that american people’s are very easy…im sorry about this i dont want to be bad but its my opinion.
They loves weapons and school’s tragedies
I’m french and I cant understand how majors may compare rate from a show scheduled at 8pm and an other which is scheduled at 10pm or more alter because of sport overrun… When CBS decided to scheduled The Mentalist tu Sunday at 10pm, they sign the Die of this show. Even, I do not talk of the long breaks in the season because the events like Olympics games or National sport events…. How could we compare ratings in this way ?
Mentalist is very great success all over the world, except in… US ! Thanks CBS
I hope that Intelligence has been renewed. I hesitated to watch it because of all the other crime-fighting shows I watch i.e. NCIS, NCIS L.A., The Mentalist, Castle, Hawaii Five-O, Person of Interest. The characters’ interraction and sometimes light banter keeps these shows engaging. Intelligence has definitely caught my interest. I’m happy that Unforgettable has returned, I always enjoyed Poppy Montgomery in Without a Trace. I also thought Body of Proof was high quality, and was disappointed at its demise.
Please keep Intelligence!
Please keep Intelligence Person of Interest and Hawaii 5-0
I’m personally not a fan of any reality shows with the exception of Dancing With the Starts & So You Think You Can Dance or day-time soaps. I like the dramas and or crime. I love Castle & Mentalist (it was enough of Red John after many seasons) because of the bit of humour they have but I also love Blacklist, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Point of Interest (I do miss Joss), Good Wife (killing Will! Wow!), Revenge (but I think by the way things are going, it looks like they may be winding it down. Not so keen on Intelligence.… Read more »
What gets me is why do the wriers have to make some series so complicated. I mean like Person of Interst. I understand losing Carter, adding Shaw. …but now we have harold of course, John and Shaw with Fusco…then add Root? decimal? and some other group chasing the damn machine….tops bneing fun when you have to consenytrate on whot is who anfd what the hell is going on
My prediction (comedies)
The Big Bang Theory – Renewed for season 8 (24 eps)
2 Broke Girls – Renewed for season 4 (24 eps)
Two and a Half Men – Renewed for season 12 (21 eps)
The Millers – Renewed for season 2 (24 eps)
Mom – Renewed for season 2 (22 eps)
The Crazy Ones – Cancelled
Mike and Molly – Cancelled
Please keep Intelligence! It’s not their fault that CBS confused the audience by changing their time slot after the first episode and moved them to Mondays at 10pm – what a terrible slot! Certainly doesn’t reflect the potential and quality of the show.
I really like Intelligence too. It got off to a bit of a rough start, but in my opinion it’s just getting better and better.
Rough start? It nose dove into oblivion. Its got to go.
It’s not the time slot that is killing it. It is the terrible acting, the implausible plots, and the plot holes large enough for a fleet of mack trucks to go through
T.V. Viewer, that is your opinion, and you are welcome to it. I happen to like the show. It’s no Person of Interest or Homeland, but it is still entertaining enough for me to watch.
Intelligence definitely had a bumpy beginning. The cast seemed disconnected, the story was a bit jumbled, and honestly, it was a little boring. However, had you stuck with it as a lot of us did, it finally found its footing around episode five when it finally got its act together, the cast definitely fell into a great rhythm, the stories began to get “intelligent” and smoother, and the thriller level began to climb. I am sorry it took so long to become the great show it had the potential to be from the outset, and it might pay the price… Read more »
Seriously? the implausible plots? Have you watched under the dome? Keep Intelligence; the fresh faces and witty character interplay beat the tired Castle storyline hands down each week.
T.V. VIEWER:: IT’S NOT THE SHOW FAULT, IT WAS CBS BAD CHOEIS OF TIME SLOT. IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE SHOW IT NOT GOING HURT THE SHOW. IF ONE PERSON DOSE NOT WITCH. YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WENT A BOUT AND I THINK PEOPLE LIKE YOU DON’T LIKE THE SHOW. WANTS THE SHOW TO BE CANCELLED. BUT YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY WHATS ON YOUR MIND, FEEL FREE TO DO SO….
CBS CHOSE TO PUT INTELLIGENCE ON MONDAY AT THE 10 TIME SLOT… THAT THEY FRIST GOT RANDY OF HOSTAGES BECAUSE IT COULDN’T STAND ON THE SAME LIVEL OF BLACKLIST ON NBC. COME ON SEE INTELLIGENCE FRIST EPISODE DID BUTTER ON TUESDAY , THE RATING ON TUESDAY BLOW THE ROOF OFF.
I love Intelligence! Please keep it!! It’s in a bad time slot. It rivals with The Blacklist. I love both shows. I tape one and watch the other. It has a great cast. It does have NCIS potential . Josh Holloway is very good on the show.
I love Person Of Interest till they decide to Kill the heart of the series, Joss Carter. then the series become more boring with Reese, Finch and Fusco surrounded by boring new cast. skinny woman, Root who resemble Finch, Shaw who resemble Reese. *I like Shaw, especially her girl partner with Carter.* please…after the revealing of Mystery machine, just end it already. After all I still love POI.
I really don’t understand the mentality of wanting the show to end because it took a direction you don’t like. Most fans (that I’ve spoken with or read comments from) seem to think the series is at it’s peak thus far, so we certainly don’t want to see it end. If you don’t like it anymore, then you can stop watching (though I would encourage you to stick with it), but please don’t advocate the termination of what is the favorite show of some of us.
It is not the show’s fault that the actress that played Joss Carter (Taraji Henson) CHOSE to leave the show. I loved her too, but it was her decision to leave. POI is still one of the best shows currently on TV.
I think “The Mentalist” and “The Good Wife” might do a lot better if they didn’t keep bumping, re-running, or just not showing them. Consistency is really important. I love both shows. They go up against Masterpiece Theater presentations ao the network ought not mess around with their schedule. Of course if golf is still on and I might get to watch these shows starting at 11-midnight, I am going to watch Masterpiece. Wise up CBS and be a lot more consistent, especially when the shows make major changes and we only get to see 3 or 4 new episodes… Read more »
I LOVE TWO AND A HALF MEN!!!!
It is my favorite show! After a long day I need some
comic relief and this show always comes through!
Alan & Walden& even Berta have become my tv family!
I used to love Two and a Half Men, but it should be renamed Two Men and a Lesbian. It is time to end this show.
