Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

How disappointing to learn there is no Season 4. Loved the show, the characters and lovely scenery. Hope Hallmark will reconsider.
This show was a way to escape to a pleasant and comforting environment on the waterfront . The cast were some of the most good looking people on TV. The storyline was relaxing and entertaining. I will really miss it. Please reconsider.
So bummed…really enjoyed Cedar Cove
How disappointing to learn “Cedat Cove” was cancelled! It seems to be a trend to leave viewers hanging…but it didn’t seem like something Hallmark would do. This was a feel good story that had great characters and interesting lives. Made me want to live in Cedar Cove! Please reconsider.
I agree w Jeanne. Very disappointed
Although you decided not to continue this series, it would have been nice if you could have aired a 1 or 2 hour final show and showed what happens to each character.
I was stunned when I learned that there would be no 4th season for Cedar Cove, didn’t see that coming. If they needed to end the show, they should have at least done a final season to tie up all the loose ends left on the season 3 finale. Poor choice Hallmark!
I am totally gutted that Cedar Cove is be be shelved ‘WHY’ maybe the problem about viewing is you’ve taken so long to televise the series, once again the poor viewer has to suffer ‘SHAME’ it is truly a wonderful show with a genuine group of actors so light hearted and very refreshing i will miss you so much.
So typical to have a show on TV that is enjoyable only to see it canceled. This is very common for the main networks, but I would expect more from Hallmark. Very disappointed.
so sad that cedar cove is not returning. I always made sure that I didn’t plan anything else at the time of the show.
why do good shows always get cancelled.
So sorry it was cancelled. I really thought it was a good show. All the actors were wonderful!!! It would be nice to see it renewed. I will really miss it.
I borrowed season 3 from the library. This Hallmark series grabbed my interest from season 1, episode 1. My disappointments are great regarding the non-ending of season 3. Ending the filming at this point was completely unsatisfying. I hope Hallmark reconsiders the continued production with a 4th season. I’m glad the books are still available.
So bummed. I love shows like this that are wholesome and can be viewed with my teen for good moral messages. It would be cool to have a two hr wrap up movie. Thanks for the episodes I did get to see.
Cedar Cove was a super show, reading all the notes about bringing it back should tell you people love it and want it on. So SAD when I heard it’s not returning. It made me happy to see it and looked forward to the next week.
Very upset that the show was canceled was looking forward to it this year o watched it faithfully
