Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Sad to see Cedar cove cancelled. I love the show and characters. Please bring it back!!
Canceling this show was a mistake. The writing is excellent, and the actors great! The viewing numbers are down because Hallmark is losing cable contracts. Please consider a season 4. Maybe Netflix will make it a joint venture. It really is a fantastic series.
Sad. Another show that i looked forward to, cancelled. Why?
Please bring it back for season 4! Love this show and the actors all fit their parts so well. Moon is my favorite! And, Jack Griffith, played by Dylan Neal, is one of the best looking men I have seen on a TV show in quite a while in addition to being a great actor. Will definantly be following him on other shows.
So disappointing! Was so looking forward to the 4th season. How can u leave everyone hanging. I agree why get us caught up and they not finish it out. Won’t get involved again. It was really good clean entertainment. Sad choice by hallmark
so sad i love this show,i have been waiting for 3rd season finally on netflix, but just heard,it won’t be 4 season.
i cry almost in every episode
So sad! This was my favorite show. It was a clean show but they all get canceled. With all the bad news, it was good to be swept away to Cedar Cove each week. So disappointed in Hallmark channel.
Why are you canceling this show? There are so many that loved this show in such a beautiful setting! I do not understand Hallmark at all. It makes one not want to trust your productions for fear of canceling and be left hanging!
There are very few clean shows and family programming on TV any more. I pay extra to have the channel because I love watching family type programming. So sad they so ended without clearing up the story lines. Bring back the show few the loyal viewers.
We need season 4. You can not leave a show hang with no closure. Are you counting the Netflix views. Please bring it back as it is nice to have a show that does not surround violence, foul language and stupid senseless plots. Please do not let the fans down and if not plase.give a a closure movie.
I think Netflix should pick it up….so many people don’t have cable and wait for their favorite shows to come out on Netflix….
I never knew this show existed until I started watching it on Netflix and fell in love with it and now I find out it’s been canceled so sad. It would be nice if it was picked back up or even if Netflix’s picked it up.
I was absolutely shocked to hear Cedar Cove was canceled. That was the one and only program I looked forward to watching. I’ve never known a network to cancel a show leaving it’s viewers in the cold. Could that be why ratings are decreasing? Of course. Bringing it back would be a game changer.
I am so sad to see this. I am just finishing up the episodes on Netflix and come to find this. I am so upset. I want to know more about them. This sucks! I love Debbie Macomber books! I love this show. Bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved this show and could only watch it on Netflix. Maybe that is why the ratings are down. I do not understand 2 things. One, why would you leave millions of fans hanging on a really important question at the end of season three. And two, why cancel a good, entertaining show like Cedar Cove? Give your viewers something wholesome to watch, there are not enough of these shows anymore. We need more shows with values and less violence.
