Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I think Hallmark lost a million viewers who will not watch a future series because they were left in limbo on this one.
Please bring back Season 4 of Cedar Cove! I just love the series and have been watching since the very first episode. Please don’t cancel!
I just finished Season 3 on Netflix, and I was looking to buy the 4th season on Amazon and discovered there’s not a 4th season. What a bummer! This show was “wholesome” unlike most Netflix series I watch. It was a feel good show that didn’t leave me feeling dark after watching. We need shows like this. I think Hallmark should reconsider. Or at least wrap up the ending with a 2 hour movie as some on this thread suggested.
I’d love to see a 4th season — or how about a 2 hour ‘special’ to tie up all the loose ends. I’ve watched all 3 seasons, and my husband started watching in season 3. I didn’t think he’d like it, but he surprised himself by getting involved.
I am so sad to see you not renew Cedar Cove. At the very least fans would love to see a special with a viable conclusion… Maybe another 2 part so there is enough time to develop the ending. It has been an amazing show!!
So disappointed in the cancellation of Cedar Cove. 🙁 I was enjoying a drama that I could relate to & also the various ages of the characters. I’m afraid that you have missed the opportunity to tap into the Baby Boomer generation of women. Obviously the book sales of Debbie Macomber should be evidence that there is an audience for this type of show. It is a shame that these rich characters will not continue to inhabit Cedar Cove on The Hallmark Channel.
It was such a pleasure to watch the show every Saturday night. .
Please renew Cedar Cove, Hallmark! We really enjoy the characters, the beauty of Cedar Cove and the insightful exploration of relationship.
Please renew Cedar Cove. I enjoyed the show and just when your audience is hooked, you cancel it. Hallmark: I am already boycotting home and family because of your insincere way of letting Christina go and lying to her fans about her departure. Perhaps Hallmark is not as wholesome as they pretend to be.
They should at least make a movie to end the stories.
O.k….I’m ticked! Ridiculous decision as it was one of the last few really good shows you could sit down and watch without having to explain things to young eyes & ears! Also, I loved the age range of characters. The main characters were not all in their 20s and they were out there living lives…unlike mainstream tv!!! Boo!
I think it’s an absolute travesty to end the series! Moreover who was the mastermind behind cancelling the series with Pauls question to Olivia’s feelings for him?! Omg I’m devastated. This was such an amazing series! So so sad…
I read all the books watched season one and two in one week could not wait for season three. Just finished it in two days. Hope they brin season four. Will have to back and read the books again they kept you wanting to read and not out the books down.
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove is cancelled. I only watch it on Netflix, because I don’t have cable. Just finished the end of season 3, anxious to see what happens with Olivia. Now I guess we will never know! This is such a bummer!!!
I’m watching on netflix too and getting to the end of season 3 when I realized that’s all there is and the show was canceled! Noooo.
I just started watching this on Netflix and I already watched two seasons this week. I wish it would have stayed.
Very poor decision on the part of Hallmark Channel. They would have done better to create a way to attract new viewers . Those of us who are lovers of the show , I would venture to say ,are deeply saddened. The actors brought to life real characters and developed for us a family show with integrity. Honestly, is it always about money and not value? I certainly hope that Hallmark will reconsider their decision.
