Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Can’t believe they canceled this show. I looked forward to it every summer. Why are the good shows canceled and the terrible ones left on TV. Very upset by this. Bad move.
Cedar Cove was my favorite show! Too bad it cancelled with so much content of the storyline remaining up in the air. The fact that more people are getting antennas for their TV’s (cable TV is robbing customers at their will) probably contributed to the fact of an audience demise. Now people are into streaming and binge watching, and Netflix provides this service. Please reconsider the technological upheavals, and research the watching list of streaming prior to making decisions. I am very sad about Cedar Cove.
Exactly as I thought; another series dropped without notice. Cedar Cove should have started already with Summer here and yet Hallmark is creating another new series for the Fall? Hopefully Cedar Cove will get picked up as a series on Netflix in the future. And everyone wonders why cable viewers dwindle yearly.
I’m extremely disappointed that Cedar Cove was cancelled. It was an amazing show with wonderful actors and a joy to watch. In addition, the show left us hanging with the ending. Bring it back please!!
Cedar Cove Gone??? Twist the knife in my wife’s and my heart. I guess it was too clean and wholesome. We were glued to each character and identified with many of the characters. It was a wonderful escape to an enchanting town with believable characters.
Exactly my thoughts – a good story that you wouldn’t be afraid to watch if your kids walked in the room – TV is so raunchy –
Cedar Cove is a great show and needs to continue. It’s so disappointing to catch up on the season only to be dumped at the end with so much unfinished business. There are very few shows that are this tasteful and deserve to be seen. Of all the channels, you would think Hallmark would stick this out for their viewers and their cast. This makes me want to check Hallmark off my viewing list. I don’t want to get invested in another great show and be dumped cold again. And of all the story lines to bail on…this was the… Read more »
Not sure you can look specifically for a book because the television series did not follow the book storylines faithfully. I would suggest (as a Debbie Macomber fan since her first books) that you just start with 16 Lighthouse Road and read her stories in order. You’ll love the characters and you will see how the series drifted from the books. Then you’ll understand why there isn’t a simple “pick up this book” answer.
Just Googled Cedar Cove to find out that it has been cancelled. Would be nice to have closure on the storyline. What’s next? When Calls the Heart and Good Witch?
My wife and I have just finished the third season of Cedar Cove. We have enjoyed it immensely and were so sorry the see that there is no Season 4. I do not understand why the viewer ratings fell each year other than it did seem to fit a pattern we have seen with so many other TV series. That is, it so innocently/conservatively and as the program goes on we see a greater progressive/liberal bent. Example: Olivia and Jack moving in together. This seemed so out of place with the fact that she was such a judge of integrity… Read more »
Spoiler alert – this was one of the places where the series didn’t not follow the books. Read them if you haven’t – you’ll love them.
Loved the show, so sorry there won’t be more
Disappointed that this lovely show is cancelled. Hope there will be a second thought by Hallmark..and they will do a fourth season to tie up the loose ends!
I loved this show. Networks should at least allow shows to have an ending. Maybe a 2 hour special so we can have closure to characters we have invested our time on. Sad
I can’t believe this show was canceled! I’m so disappointed especially not giving closure to the characters. Please please bring it back
Please consider at least a movie to wrap up the unanswered questions! Love the show.
So very sad to see Cedar Cove end at season 3. Like many who have already commented, I loved being transported to this wonderful town with all of its charm and unique inhabitants. This show was truly a breath of fresh air…calming and enlightening. I feel as if these townspeople; Olivia, Jack, Moon, Peggy, Grace…and even Warren were a part of my life. Please consider bringing this amazing story and cast back.
I don’t think it should be cancelled I thought the show was very good. We need more shows like this.
PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
