Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Sad that they cancelled Cedar Cove. I really enjoyed this show. The best season was Season 3 and they should bring it back with Paul and Olivia getting together – they have such chemistry!
I loved this show! Said to see it go. I hope they bring it back with Olivia and the D.A. getting together. They’re a great couple- such great chemistry. My favorite was season 3 because of the charming DA. The actor who played it — so sexy!
no it should not have been CANCELLED
The problem with this series is they deviated from the story that Debbie wrote. I wanted it to stay with the original version.
Such a warm and viewer friendly show. Love it! Please bring it back! I found it on Netflix after cancelling my cable. Very saddened to google season 4 and to find out it was dropped. Great story!!!!!!
Please bring it back at least to finish the story. Loved the cinematography
Yes bring it back. It was a fabulous series real and true
Crazy not to bring it back
I believe the lead character’s name is Olivia, not Olive. I found the series (after it had been cancelled) on Netflix. A sweet, wholesome series. I enjoyed it.
What a let down! Just finished watching the series on Netflix and decided to find out when Season 4 will begin. This was a very wholesome show. Please fix it! Bring it back please.
This was my favorite show and bought and read all the books. I am so sad the series won’t be returning or at least having a final show trying up the loose ends.
I’m extremely disappointed Hallmark canceled season 4. I even paid to upgrade my cable subscription to get Hallmark channel, just to watch this series. Is this how you treat Cedar Cove fans?
I love this show!!! no foul language, real problems, real resolutions… Lots of cliffhangers…. Don’t leave us in the lurch… beautiful scenery… I am so sad that quality programming like this is hard to find.
Please have the good judgement to end a series with some closure! This is bad judgement to end Cedar Cove. Good clean entertainment! Hard to come by these days.
To everyone who was disappointed and wants answers, PLEASE read the books!!!!! You’ll see the REAL stories that Debbie wrote and you’ll get all the answers you want. She’s a gifted writer whose characters are amazing. Though the show was enjoyable and I am disappointed too, the REAL stories are so much better than some of what was on the show. There are twelve books and the first is 16 Lighthouse Road. PLEASE give yourself the fun of visiting Cedar Cove exactly as she created it. You will not be sorry!
To avoid massive amounts of disappointment, I believe one should watch a film/movie/series based on a book FIRST, then read the books (and then go back and re-watch to catch all the discrepancies! lol).Pretty sure this is the case with Cedar Cove. I now plan to find this series in print so I can get to know the characters FOR REAL. Truly, it would have been nice to see a “grand finale” episode or something on Hallmark just to tie up some loose ends. Not all endings need to be as happy as Grace’s but there definitely needed to be… Read more »
