Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

The question I asked myself was….why didn’t Cedar Cove have a show finale at the end of the third season? Just announcing that the show has been cancelled without tying up all the story lines is frustrating and unappreciative for your loyal viewers.
I am truly going to miss the wonderfully unique characters in this family show. Too many unanswered storylines with no finale. Please bring it back or at least wrap it up.
So disappointed – LOVED this show – – makes me wonder if I should invest any more time with Hallmark movies or series – – only to have it end out of the blue with no closure…..I know it is just a television show – – but why bother to start something and then not finish??? Bad decision all around. Hope someone will reconsider!
I am so saddened to find out there will be no season 4 of Cedar Cove !!!
To leave on such a romantic cliffhanger is awful for the fans ( including myself) who have watched since the pilot!!
I just finished the last episode on Netflix and am so saddened by the show being cancelled. I hope hallmark or Netflix decide to bring it back!
.So very disappointed. A beautiful program. I was looking forward to its return and hope Hallmark will listen to the devoted viewers.
Millions of people have most likely been watching it on Netflix, and like the show Grace and Frankie, I strongly recommend making this a Netflix special.
I loved the show, it was a great break from the multitude of TV crime dramas and reality show spectacles. Bringing the Cedar Cove novel to life with the perfect acting crew and scenery brought a true breath of fresh air. Please let us know what we can do to bring it back to life!
I am saddened that this beautiful show with great characters has been cancelled. I am so disappointed and truly looked forward to watching this every week – should have at least have a finale!
Oh no why is this wonderful show canceled? Truly Hallmark made a big mistake and I hope that they reconsider bringing it back !
So upset Hallmark did this. At the very least there should be a finale. Never seen this done before! Its stinks!
I looked forward to Cedar Cove each summer. A shame it was canceled. It was one of the best series on TV. Be in Hallmark’s best interest to bring it back at least for some closure.
One of the best series on any channel and I can’t believe you would cancel it. The show sparked a longing to travel up north and to love small town life. it brought a sense of joy and peace every time i sat down to watch it. I guess it was my happy fix every week. Please bring it back. In a world of turmoil and violence and the only good shows on TV involve just that, it was so nice to have a feel fix every week, now that’s gone. We all need to see a wholesome, family based… Read more »
Please have a finale show so we can at least have closure. I don’t understand how or why this is left hanging for us who so loved this show! My favorite show to watch.
You should at least round out the story with one last season. I hate it when we are just left in the air with questions. Bring it back for season 4.
I am heartbroken over the cancellation. I enjoyed clean real life family situations that could be watched by the whole family. Not enough of that on tv. I waited so many months for this series to return with many favorite stars.
I think there should be at least another show to “end” the series because fans are looking for tying up all those unanswered questions
