Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I too was waiting for cedar cove to start..ofcourse cancel the good ones!
SO upset at this news. I love the Cedar Cove series and I am a faithful Hallmark channel customer. I even pay extra for the Hallmark Mystery channel. Please bring this back and continue with your good tradition of good shows and movies.
I loved Cedar Cove. One of the few decent shows on television. What were you thinking canceling it?
How come they always cancel the nice clean shows and leave all the other crap on?
I’m devastated. I have been looking forward to the next season. I think Hallmark channel made a huge mistake.
when did this happen? I’ve been anxiously waiting for the series to return. I’m very disappointed. There was no closure unless they’re planning to make a movie.
I cannot understand why the cancellation? I was truly enjoying the series and looking forward to all the outcomes. While I am an avid Hallmark movie fan, I don’t necessarily want to see the cast in other shows and know they are still employed. I feel strongly they all meshed well and am very sad along with confused as to why Hallmark would cancel the show?
Very disappointed! A wonderful show that should never have been cancelled! Why was it cancelled? I would love to see it return very soon!
Please tell me this isn’t true. I love this show
Whoever made the decision to cancel Cedar Cove made the wrong decision. Not watching anymore reruns of dull shows you’re showing, goodbye Hallmark.
Just finished Season 3 on Netflix….I think it’s rude for a network to cancel a show leaving so many things up in the air without some kind of closure.
Very disappointed. Have been waiting anxiously for the new season, and just read about it being cancelled. I just hate it when networks cancel shows without resolving anything. I think it should be tv law that if a show is going to be cancelled, they have to make a conclusion, either by a few episodes or movie to tie up loose ends.
Really enjoyed this show and have enjoyed watching it again on Netflix. This was interesting and just a good show to watch. Wish they would have at least tied it up in a finale. Disappointed in Hallmark that they didn’t see the value. Hope they do some CC movies like they did with the Good Witch.
I have been anxiously awaiting the return of Cedar Cove this month only to just find out (online) that it won’t be happening. I am so disappointed because I read all of the books and watched the show since the beginning.
Really liked this show. If I wasn’t home I’d always record it. Seems like if a show isn’t about dying or shooting or just plain depressing, it won’t last. Very disappointed in Hallmark.
