Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I’m so sad to hear this series has been cancelled! Loved it & looked forward to watching it. Please reconsider!!! There’s so much garbage on TV these days & this was such a quality show!
I am very disappointed that the series has been cancelled. I think it’s terrible that we can’t keep following this story!
Really? Hallmark networks are pretty much the only channels I watch, and have been waiting to see what happened in multiple situations of Cedar Cove. Very disappointed right now. With trying to wait till Chrismtas 2016 for the second part of the Bridge, now this? Not to mention the home and family changes. The only decent place to watch tv is becoming nothing more than reruns and disappointments. Guess it’s back to books.
I, for one, am missing Cedar Cove. I did not find an interest in When Calls The Heart, nor have I seen anything in trailers that will inspire me to watch your new upcoming series
Loved Cedar Cove…. am sick that it has been cancelled!!!
Can’t believe you cancelled Cedar Cove. We were looking forward to it this season. Shame on you for cancelling it.
I am so disappointed.. I loved this show… how come all the clean descent shows get cancelled… UGH!!!!
I watched all three seasons and really liked the show. How can Hallmark cancel the series with all the characters stories up in the air. I watch very little TV but this was one of the best shows on TV.
Hallmark, I understand why the ratings were dropping. I hate to say it but the show needed… a little more umph. It was a little too squeaky clean. Call me naive but I think it’s possible to have a good clean show, i.e. sans all the sex, with a just little more drama. I don’t know how to achieve that. But where there is a will there’s a way.
We are sooo disappointed. We really look forward to this series that has been running every summer. Please reconsider bringing it back.
My Mother and I have been looking forward to the start of Cedar Cove for weeks. I couldn’t understand why I didn’t see any program updates in the TV Guide or browsing on the Comcast guide. Tonight I decided to investigate online and found this article. Soooooooooooooooooooooo disappointing! It was a summer programming highlight!
I was disappointed in all the pre-marital relationships for Hallmark. It was enjoyable to see wrong decisions get righted and people learning from their mistakes such as Eric, the importance of forgiveness and giving second chances. End of Season 3 left us all hanging about Olivia’s possible decision regarding the DA, Paul. Too much partner changing or possible partner changing throughout was difficult to watch amidst all the good psychological advice about relationships. In reality, most people who live together before marriage, do not stay together. Bad way to test a relationship with complete physical intimacy.
What a sad state of affairs! I just found out that CC was cancelled…I’ve been watching for the commercials and finally decided to check Google when I did not see any. I am SO disappointed that this truly special series has been cancelled. I, for one, will no longer watch the Hallmark Channel. It is a very disappointing that we will no longer be able to escape to this beautiful town for the summer, with exceptional acting…kudos to Debbie Macomber! I hope that the “Higher Ups” at Hallmark are reading these comments and will reconsider…
This is the only series on t.v. that is worth watching!!!! I work hard all day Saturday and the only thing I look forward to is Cedar Cove!! Please don’t take it away. I have to know what becomes of all the lives that I have been following and cheering for!!! Please reconsider and keep all us fans happy a little while longer!!! I wish there was something magical I could say to save MY show from extinction.
I feel that Hallmark has made so many stupid mistakes in the last six months. What is the problem Hallmark? Get your head out of your!!!!!!!
