Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Shame on Hallmark that was a great show. Wish they would bring it back. I’ve been waiting for the season to start. Wow what a let down.
To bad the series ended, it was a good show. I think the reason for the ratings drop was the long time between seasons. If they had closed the gap between seasons the ratings would have continued. It goes to show Hallmark does not know what it is doing.
I am so upset about the cancellation of Cedar Cove. I have been waiting and waiting until finally I decided to see why I hadn’t seen any series promotion for season 4. I am really very irritated and disgruntled that Hallmark would do this to the 1.6 million viewers that looked forward to this show and the continuation of the storyline.
I hate that Cedar Cove has been cancelled for those of us who read & loved the books it was great to see the characters come to life on the show . I don’t know who is in charge of the programming on the Hallmark Channel but I think they need someone new . I also hate the way they schedule the Christmas movies for countdown to Christmas. I absolutely love all the Christmas movies & there are so many good ones that they could show a different movie every 2 hours & never show the same movie twice but… Read more »
Surprised Cedar Cove was cancelled. I would think over 1.5 M viewers would be enough to keep the series going. Hate being left hanging. Maybe do a final show?
I’ve just learned of the cancellation of Cedar Cove. What is Hallmark thinking? This has been a good Family Show. Please reconsider and do at least a final show for the many dedicated watchers and put yourself in good graces with many disappointed Hallmark dedicated watchers. Reconsider and the Right Thing.
I am sorry U cancelled Cedar Cove. It would have been the right thing to do to at least have one final episode to tie all the lose ends and give the audience a finale. Instead you left everyone wondering when the show is coming back. I see the stars in other shows but I along with others are deeply disappointed. Shame on Hallmark. YOU Dropped the ball on this one.

Is not fair. This is a decent enough series to give it a proper ending. A real shame.
I am so sad to read that Cedar Cove has been cancelled!!!! I loved the show and it’s characters. It was a great clean show, easy and comforting to watch. I don’t watch a lot of Television, so this was something I so looked forward to. What a disappointment!!
Seriously! Why not give the fans a proper ending? My mother and three sisters and I loved the show and we’re looking forward to watching it this summer. Shame on Hallmark, give us an ending, please.
The cancellation of this wholesome TV show does not speak well for Hallmark. It had over a million viewers – that is a lot of people!!!! Now there’s more watching this series on Netflix and we want more. It was shameful to leave a large dedicated audience of three seasons hanging when only a few dropped off. Not a nice thing to do Hallmark and not very Hallmark of you either!!!!!!!
I think it would be a good thing to at least wrap up the story line. I’ve really enjoyed the series – and I never watch the Hallmark channel! I understand if all involved want to move on, but please complete the stories for one more season, or maybe even just a final, 2 hour closer. Please consider this.
I loved Cedar Cove. They could have at least given it a proper ending. It appears Hallmark Channel could care less of the viewers’ feelings. Obviously, these comments do no good as Hallmark has not responded to any of them.
I’m really disappointed there is no season 4. It’s not fair to leave us hanging. I’ve been looking forward to seeing it all winter long. I loved the show and the characters.
So very disappointed that Cedar Cove isn’t coming back! It’s terrible that you are just leaving the viewers hanging!
