Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I am upset that the show was cancelled. You get to know the characters and care what happens to them then the show just stops. The last episode was upsetting in the way it ended also. If it was coming back for a 4th season, but not when it was being cancelled.
How incredibly disappointing that you would cancel a show that was clearly enjoyed by many. Why not have a final show and tie up those loose ends.
Very upset. I was looking forward to watching the next season.
Please bring it back ! I couldn’t wait to watch this show every week.. Me and my daughters watched it together. We record every show and watch it on Netflix. It was a clean show your entire family could watch it. Very sad and bummed it won’t be coming back. Thank you
I’m very disappointed that CC was cancelled. Why? And they had so many witch story movies??? Please bring it back.
very upset that cedar cove is cancelled. I was so looking forward to the new season. Please consider a follow up of some sort. There are so few shows that have good values and aren’t sappy.
Love Cedar Cove! So sad that such a good wholesome show is cancelled.
Watched all three seasons on Netflix. Maybe Netflix can pick it up. Hoping there will be some kind of finality to the show.
Please bring us season 4!!! My husband and I both enjoy the show and after a long day it’s so nice to unwind with such
beautiful cinematography and storyline!
We love Andie and co stars!!
C’mon guys!!
Could we possibly gave a one off TV movie to finish the stories?
I’m a 70-year-old male who was looking forward to the 4th season of Cedar Cove. To say the least, I am very disappointed.
I am super bummed. I read the series and was really hoping it would finish with the completed stories.
Sad
It’s just not worth getting interested in a series anymore. First they only do 12 episodes a year, which is ridiculous considering when I was growing up, series went from September to May. Then they up and cancel them. Probably one of the reasons the viewership goes down is the short seasons and so much time elapsing in between. 1.67M viewers is still a lot of viewers, but I guess to heck with them, huh? They pay these actors tons of money for very little effort. I won’t be watching any more series. Better to read books.
I’m with you Tonya !! You hit the nail on the head. Life for a T.V. actor is a pretty ambiguous profession nowadays.
I just watched Cedar Cove on Netflix and was very disappointed that I, like 1.6 million other people, won’t get to see what happens to the characters. I enjoyed the wholesomeness and the beautiful views. It’s a shame to go through 3 seasons to just leave us hanging. Hallmark indulge us and tie up the loose ends please.
I too have wondered why no promos for this summer, checked it out on Wikipedia and found out it’s been cancelled. I was a borderline fan – sort of enjoyed it but never liked the constant tension and unresolved issues between Jack and Olivia, and their living together (altho not showing any action) plus Olivia’s occasional use of “damnit” could qualify it as PG not G, just sayin’, depends on how clean one wants one’s TV fare. I thought Sebastian Spence’s role was way too minor while at the same time his appearance shocked me – his face looked like… Read more »
