Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Love watching Cedar Cove!! Love the scenery, the people, and the story lines!! Very sad to hear it wont be on any more! I will miss the happy feeling I have while enjoying the show. I just re-watched all the episodes on Netflix. Very disappointed that it just ended without a real finale for a show that has ended?!!
I absolutely love Cedar Cove! The characters evolve and the storyline is increasingly enchanting. I love that the main characters are women with grown children, to whom I can relate. I have always loved Andie McDowell with three of my all time favorite movies being Tara Road, Unstrung Heroes and Four Weddings and a Funeral. The cast, writing, and set/location are amazing! I want to live in Cedar Cove! Please count my voice among those yelling “Bring it back!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!”
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. Everytime there is a good show, it ends up being cancel and then replaced by crap. I am done with the Hallmark Channel.
I am so sick that you are cancelling Ceder Cove on the Hallmark channel. The ratings are good and obviously more room to continue. Yes, I am probably just a simpleton, but I like nice shows to watch. I am not stupid, though, as I was a teacher for 38 years. I think I will give up on your channel. Most of the movies you produce are silly and not worth watching, but I watch because I hate regular tv, but I think it is time to stop being disappointed by you as well. I am sure this will mean… Read more »
Please give it one more try. I enjoyed the first two seasons….but I fell in love with the third one!! The character, Paul, is definitely a game changer. Please bring it back for one more season! We need to watch Paul & Olivia’s love story unfold. You made us suffer through her & Jack…they have no chemistry….but the screen just lights up everytime Paul & Olivia are together!! Oh please make at least one more episode…if you refuse a whole season!! You finally have the right characters!! The fourth season could be really fantastic!!! The television world is lacking a… Read more »
Why have fans lured in to watch future series by Hallmark if you are going to cut them off and never finish them? Over it and won’t be brought back in…
We just binged watched Cedar Cove this weekend and were so glad to find a show that both me and my husband enjoyed and my 9 year old daughter could watch. I think we deserve at least a reunion show to let us know what happened with so many of the complicated relationships. I need to research the authors books to see if the story continues but would love to see in on screen.
It’s a great series of books! And so well written you don’t have to readthem in order. I love the way she put these books together!
I was looking forward to the next season. Sad it was cancelled. How about at least a happy ending????
Man! So bummed you cancelled this show. I just found it and watched all three seasons on Netflix back to back to be all caught up for season four only to find out…..there won’t be. What a great clean show. It’s way better than Good Witch and When calls the heart, although those are also both good, so it just doesn’t make any sense to me! At least give us an episode with some closure and happily ever afters! Bummed!
Was so disappointed to find out Cedar Cove had been cancelled. Please make at least one more episode and tell us how everything turned out!
Love Cedar Cove and while I’d enjoy more episodes and knowing what happens next…I truly think it would be a great special episode or MOVIE to wrap up loose ends…fingers crossed 🙂
This was a wonderful show to enjoy with my grand daughters. Very sorry to see it end. Hope they will reconsider at least doing an ending if not a season.
I’m really bummed that it got cancelled. I just did a Netflix marathon to get caught up b/c I moved. It would have been nice to see a Season 4. It’s one of my favorite shows. Now, I’m left hanging. 🙁
I’m sooooo dissappointed I just found this show and binged on it to find out there was no season 4. We lack great shows like this. It’s lighthearted, it makes you smile, and cry, and laugh. Please, please, please find a way to renew this show whether on Hallmark or on Netflix, Amazon, etc. This show is too good to just end abruptly.
I had a feeling it had been cancelled because I’ve been looking for it in the listings. Too bad. It was a great show.
