Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Keep the series or bring events to resolution (series finale, book, etc) by Debbie Macomber to express her intended direction for resolution. Loved it, the setting, characters, family safe viewing and sad to it go.
Going to miss it,
Suspense-ridden admirer
At a time when all you see on TV and Film leave you feeling troubled, Cedar Cove represented a township with a heart. I looked forward to every episode! Sorry that Hallmark based its decision on viewership numbers. There are alot of us who still want to watch less violence and horror and reality TV. Come on Hallmark … you brought the Golden Girls back and we love them! Hopefully we can have a voice and bring Cedar Cove back for Season 4!
Really! Bring it back it’s the best show I’ve seen in ages. Bring it back!!!
I am very disappointed. My husband and I looked forward to Saturday nights. I loved the cast and read most of the books.
My husband and I enjoyed this show so much. We are so disappointed that the characters that we came to like have no conclusions to their stories. Bring it back!!!
I love Cedar Cove and I cannot believe they are cancelling this show. It was a good family show that I would not mind sitting down with any of my children my nieces my nephews or anybody to watch. I am so upset they’re canceling it.
I have been waiting patiently for the 4th season but just learned of the cancellation. Just another example of how Hallmark channel feels about their fans. Add this to the Home and Family debacle and you seem to have one screwed up network. We need programs like Cedar Cove instead of the shoot em up blood and gore programs. Maybe Hallmark needs to clean house.
I’m not happy at all that Hallmark cancelled the series. At least wrap up the story instead of leaving the die hard fans hanging. I’m not happy at all as I have read all of Debbie’s books in the series. Please at least put in a few episodes or movie to let us know the outcome.
Like so many others who have commented, my husband and I found this show incredibly refreshing and easy to watch. There was no gratuitous sexual content, no profanity, and no unnecessary violence. Come to think of it–IS THIS WHY IT WAS CANCELLED? It was too wholesome. The question is–what can we viewers do to kick up some dust? Other shows have been resurrected after a concerted effort.
Please at least tie up all the loose ends. That is very inconsiderate of the Hallmark Channel to just end the series and leave so many unanswered questions.
I would lliek to know what book follows the end of the show, too many answered questions for it to end this way. Shame on Hallmark
I am thoroughly disappointed & upset at how you left this beloved series just hanging – this is a pretty awful way to treat your fans. This makes me not want to get interested in or watch any of the other series being shown on the Hallmark Channel!
Yes, please bring it back and finish out the series. The books were so lovingly written, and I feel like I’ve lost great friends! I actually upgraded my channel lineup FOR this show when it started, I was so excited! If Hallmark doesn’t bring it back, maybe Netflix will pick it up now that they have seasons 1-3
I loved this series and am begging to see a season four very soon!!!! Please please please!!!!!
Loved every minute of every episode! But now to be left with so many loose ends…please make a movie version to let us know how everyone ends up.
