Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Cedar Cove was so refreshing to watch, I loved it and looked forward to Saturday evenings. I was very disappointed when it was cancelled. There is not much on TV these days that is worth watching and Cedar Cove brought families together again. It was my favorite shows on Hallmark, right up there with Christmas movies and the “Love Saga!”. Bring it back on Sunday evenings, I hated when we would have plans on Saturdays or would be out of town and missed it, and you could not catch up, there were no reruns. PLEASE consider bringing it back on… Read more »
The probable reason rating slipped is because it aired on Saturday nights at 8 pm during the summer – a very busy time of the year. If it had aired on Sunday nights, rating would not had slipped. I LOVED that show but due to its crappy time slot, missed a lot of episodes. And they were NEVER re-ran. I love the Hallmark Channel but I must say, I’m very, very disappointed with the cancellation of Cedar Cove. BRING IT BACK – Please?
I am so disappointed—-I love the show……
Please be advised, dear Hallmark, that I will not be watching any NEW series you develop due to the way you left the viewers, me included, hanging with CEDAR COVE. At the very least, you should have a movie to wrap things up. Shame on you!
why do they always cancel good shows!
WHY DO YOU GET US HOOKED ON A SHOW AND THEN CANCEL
BEFORE AN END. THAT IS LIKE READING A GOOD BOOK AND
THE LAST FEW CHAPTERS ARE MISSING. NOT COOL
I loved cedar cove!!!! Why would the network cancel? Just because the viewing rate went down season to season, does not mean everyone stopped watching. What about the true cedar cove fans? There are still many loyal viewers!!
It is a sad and very disappointing thing when good wholesome entertainment loses out to numbers and $$$. It is very evident that (regardless of the percentage an audience fills in the rating charts for a wholesome series) the integrity of a specific type of entertainment, on a wholesome level, to satisfy this type of audience is not a priority. Cedar Cove was a series based on integrity (that this divided world is sorely losing ) based on the fruitage of the of the spirit, which is encompassed in the most unifying quality that is a perfect bond, LOVE. I fell in love with every character and yet the fans of this show who latched on to every situation are once again disappointed by television networks. Tv continues to try and give the viewers what they want, yet all they are really doing is taking away what we want. As part of the younger generation I have grown up watching hallmark, but am so disappointed that try would cancel such a great show.
How are the Kardashians still on television, and this wonderful series is canceled? Very bad decision by Hallmark!
I would love to see this show return. Love all the characters and the story line. Please return – it is not often that a really good story comes on TV.
I can’t believe there isn’t going to be a season 4 of Cedar Cove!!!! There are too many unanswered questions. You could at least do one 2 hour movie to answer the questions season 3 left everyone hanging on.
Really disappointed. Loved watching this series. If you can’t bring it back for a whole season, could you at least have a movie to tie up the loose ends & answer questions?!
OMG! Are you serious? So disappointed that there won’t be a season 4. I want to see Olivia with Paul! Please bring it back!
I can’t believe hallmark still has good witch and when calls the heart. Since they cancelled cedar cove I think I will cancel the hallmark channel not worth paying extra for!! Has anybody started a petition to see if another network will pick it up the petition worked for Nashville
