Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

This show always made me feel so good. The sets were beautiful, the characters and situations were interesting, I wish they hadn’t canceled, I miss it. I agree with everyone else, it would be great to have a special episode or movie to wrap things up.
Hate to hear that the shows not coming back. I have been waiting all year to see the results of last season. I have watched it since it first came on and I have really enjoyed it. Will keep my eyes open if you decide to continue 🙂
I am really disappointed this show was cancelled, maybe if they had left it on Saturday night were it was originally they wouldn’t have lost viewers…I, however, know how the story ends as I have read the entire Cedar Cove book series
I was also watching this show on NETFLIX and after hearing it was cancelled I actively watched the final 3rd season hoping to watch all the story arcs come to a satisfying completion. I was shocked and wholeheartely disappointed that it ended the way it did. YES, PLEASE bring back at least a 2 hr finale or SOMETHING, to satisfy all the truly loyal viewers of the series!!
Hallmark please bring it back. fans are left with a cliff hanger. Why not at least do one episode to end it properly. Not a nice thing for Hallmark to do to loyal viewers. You must have surely known this before you shot the last episode. Why did you not end it properly. Shame on you.
Please, please do a final movie or shortened season. It’s so disappointing after investing 3 years anxiously looking forward to what’s next to have the characters and stories left hanging.
I agree with other comments that a final episode would be very well received to wrap things up. My hopes were that Paul and Olivia would become a couple instead of Olivia and Jack. Too many red flags with Jack! Run and don’t stop running. I also had issues with Grace caring more about planning her shower and wedding than working on the relationship with someone who loved her. I won’t miss her. I just envisioned Olivia responding to Paul’s question and having her forget about Jack. Paul was perfect for Olivia. I also loved Moon. I hope his character… Read more »
If the show was cancelled and so many of us would like to see the loose ends tied up, why not make a Hallmark Movie to fill in the blanks??
There was no name calling
I loved this show. I hate it when shows cancel and leave you hanging.
I just finished watching the 3rd season of cedar cove and am SO disappointed that everyones lives were not completed and we were left hanging, Not at all happywith you. I will NOT WATCH YOUR CHANNEL EVER AGAIN AND MY FRIENDS AND RELATIVES wont be either……it is inexcusable for you to disregard your fans in this manner and the famous author too, SHAME ON YOU,!!!
I wholeheartedly agree with you!
Big disappointment! Want to see more of Brennan Elliot.
I’m so disappointed that Cedar Cove has been canceled. It was one of my favorite shows. I wish there was a 4th season to at least give us closure.
I too am very disappointed that Cedar Cove won’t be returning. Hallmark is about the only channel with decent entertainment being aired and to not at least have a finale to the series is a mistake. Please reconsider and take into account all of the fans you have that enjoy this type of programming. I don’t think this was a good choice on Hallmark’s part.
So sorry to hear that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. If it was losing viewers, it couldn’t have been a complete surprise to Hallmark, why couldn’t a final episode be made. I was a faithful viewer. So, do you think I will ever watch a series on Hallmark if this is how you treat your viewers!!!
