Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I am also extremely disappointed with Hallmark for their decision of cancelling Cedar Cove. They could at least do a two hour special instead of leaving us fans hanging. Please reconsider.
Great …. cancel it after you leave people hanging with the story lines. This was truly a good quality show without all the useless crap that’s in the other shows. Thanks, Hallmark. Well done on becoming just like every other station.
I’m extremely disappointed in Hallmark for cancelling the Cedar Cover series. It was a refreshing show that dealt with real emotions and situations of life. Consider at least 1 more season, don’t leave your loyal viewers hanging. I’m equally saddened to see Hallmark become like other national stations where #’s and ratings mean more than their viewing audience. I feel betrayed and cheated. Cedar Cove deserves a proper ending.
I really enjoy this show. I am in the middle of Season 2 and have been impressed with the life lessons that are taught. That has been lost for decades now in tv series shows. Don’t cancel. Keep going.
Well, as usual, another great show has been cancelled. This was a “feel good” show and it left you with a positive feeling after watching it. Most of the shows that are on TV now are nothing but violence, drugs, sex, etc. All negative. I hate that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. I wish Hallmark would reconsider and bring it back. It was one of the best things on TV.
I understand shows get cancelled – but you left it hanging – it is like reading a book and the last pages are missing!!!!! At least do a finale show so things are not left hanging. I personally love this show and would like to see it continue.
Very disappointed that this series is cancelled! Was looking forward to watching season 4. It’s a very peaceful and relaxing show to watch, love Cedar Cove!! Bring it back!
Am watching Cedar Cove on netflix with my wife. We
are in season 2, wish it didn’t get cancelled. Wish they would make movie to give fans closure.
Why does Hollywood AND Hallmark insist on cancelling the best shows in favor of crime and sex shows? Please bring Cedar Cove back as it is/was a family favorite in our house.
I have been watching the Hallmark series and tv shows for years. Even though all series have the same basics, I feel all the series brought and continue to bring different life styles and variations on the theme. The series of Cabot Cove was an enjoyable series and all the characters were interesting and colorful. Cabot Cove started on Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. EST. not a good night for a series. I am not sure why people lost interest but it did seem like the characters had more elongated indecisions than actual decisions. There was one connection that ended… Read more »
I have read the entire series and was so excited Hallmark decided to turn it into a TV series! Please bring it back, it’s so nice seeing the town of Cedar Cove and all of its townspeople, it’s my zen just like the books. It’s nice to watch a show about a community of people who truly care about each other
Please bring back Cedar Cove!!! So VERY disappointed to see that it has ended. But thank you for renewing When Calls the Heart 🙂
I really enjoyed this series. I have even gone back and watched them again. I was really looking forward to season 4. I would like to see Hallmark reconsider.
If ratings were an issue, couldn’t we try a different time?
SO sorry to see this series end. I can’t believe with all the trash that’s out there, why a great show like this hasn’t been renewed. Maybe in the future? Hallmark has lost a fan.
Absolutely LOVED the series Cedar Cove!!! Was very disappointed that it was canceled!!!. It amazes me how shows that shouldn’t even be aired on national tv will continue for years and a wonderful clean show such as Cedar Cove can’t continue….. Very sad….
