Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Can’t believe there is no season four. I really enjoyed the show. I read all the books in the series and was so excited when I came on as a show. Please please find a way to wrap it up either with another season or a movie to give the fans closure.
I am extremely disappointed to learn that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. It seems that so many shows I like are cancelled anymore. Television is not becoming a medium of favorability with me any longer. I was turning to Hallmark for quality programming and some simple joy. Just who do these networks want watching their programs? I am not a Millenial, I am regarded by many grading systems a senior. Come on folks, bring back Cedar Cover. You, Hallmark, dropped Cristina Ferrare from Home and Family–keep it up and I will stop watching your network programming as well.
Um. That wasn’t any kind of finale. They left us hanging. The MAIN character’s life wasn’t even close to being resolved. That was so unprofessional. At least with most series you know, without having to look it up, that you have watched the final episode. Very disappointed.
The fact that this series ended so abruptly leaving us hanging and wasting my time for 3 seasons is the reason I will no longer invest my time watching anymore series. Such a joke…at least have a last followup, where years have past to give closure. If after the followup, and you want to bring the series back, it could resume with a cast member waking up from a dream.
Would like to see this show return. Easy story to follow and relax to, especially after a long day. Seems like too many shows today are about violence, dishonesty, and have no content. Some scenes seem ‘corny’ compared to other productions, but I don’t mind. I look at other Hallmark shows for one reason…..no extreme violence, sex, mix of themes and showing good and bad. Hallmark’s loss!
I’m so dissapointed to find out that ceder cove was canceled. It was a regular girls night to get together, have coffee and watch the show.
Seems lkevevety time a decent show comes on it gets canceled. So frustrating Hallmark!!!
Really disappointing I like that show
Cedar cove is a great show that should be continued. It has the small town that everyone would love to be a part of. We need more programs like Cedar Cove for family viewing.
I wish that networks would finish a show and not just drop it. If they are not going to renew it, have a two hour closing show so viewers feel closure.
Olivia was weakest member of cast, delivering lines like it was an amateur. high school play. The script opened up too many subplots that did nothing but fill up space. Scenery was gorgeous which is why I kept watching. There were far too many short scenes and then a quick jump to another scene, on and on. I felt jerked from one scene to another with too many fade outs, too much repetition in dialog such as ” what is troubling you”. It could have been wonderful, but…. I will watch to the end because something has to get resolved… Read more »
Agree with a lot of what you said…except for what you said about “Olivia”. Andie McDowell did the best with what she was given. Loved her! And, just so you know….nothing really gets resolved, except, (spoiler alert) someone gets married. Bob and Peggy were my favorite characters… And I loved what they did with Alex’s story line… from Ranch Hand to Office Exec. and several love interests with none of them really panning out. Didn’t really care for Warren’s character (jerk)…but what a great actor! So sad to see it end like it did. A two hour special would have… Read more »
I agree with most of what you stated. This was the only series my husband would watch with me! We both loved the scenery and the actors. We could watch this series with no fear of bad language and violence.
I’m so sad that there will be no season 4! please reconsider Hallmark!!
i cant believe it! we got gipped! it was the only good, old fashioned, romantic show where everything works out thanks alot hallmark
I was so disappointed when Cedar Cove was cancelled. It was a program with real characters and a homey, confortable feel to it. The scenery was spectacular, the writing true and heartwarming. I looked forward to it each week and grew to live the characters as we got to know them more each week. A real pity that it was cancelled and so many other insulting shows still remain. Please reconsider!!!
I too looked forward to seeing more of cedar cove. I really liked the show, and the fact that it is a good, hols om show without all the other nonsense they like to add to these new shows and movies. I agree with the other comments that they should at least have done a two hour finale to end the show!
What a great show, mistake cancelling it in my opinion
Truly disappointing to hear of the cancellation!! A wonderful show to sink yourself into and enjoy!! With all the other mindless nonsense on TV, it was truly refreshing to have a wonderful group of characters, scenery and storylines that could take you someplace wonderful!!! Disappointed in Hallmark Channel for the cancellation of Cedar Cove.
