Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I just checked my DVR taped list to discover no Cedar Cove. I thought maybe it would begin showing in August instead of the regular time (end of July).
I can’t believe Hallmark cancelled this show. My husband and I looked forward to it every summer! Shame on you Hallmark! You cancelled a very entertaining and clean family drama! So very disappointed!
Been waiting and waiting for previews and the beginning of season 4 of my favorite summer show only to find out it has has been cancelled. Another season is obviously wanted and needed by all the fans of Cedar Cove to wrap up the story lines and make loyal Hallmark viewers remain loyal!
I can’t believe Hallmark canceled my favorite TVshow. I have been waiting for it’s return. I have friends who have also been eagerly waiting for our show to return. I agree that it’s not worth getting invested in a TV series anymore because they don’tseem to care what the viewers think. I know my friends will not write in. I hope they will at least have a 2 hour movie to wrap up the series. C.Kruger
We want Cedar Cove back!! We were robbed!! What happened to everyone there? Jack…Olivia…Paul..Justine?..And all he others. Not fair. No closure. Not fair. A rotten thing to do!! We’ve bonded with all the residents of Cedar Cove. So sad… You care more about the ratings than your loyal followers. Get our hopes up and just pull the rug out. Not the standard I thought you stood on. Really sad!! Really sad!!
Wow, just like that and a great TV series is canceled with unanswered questions. Please bring it back.
I have been waiting all summer for Cedar Cove season 4. I just read that season 4 has been cancelled and I am very disappointed. I hope that Hallmark will reconsider. Or at least have one more episode to give your audience closure on what happened in season 3. Thank you
The way Hallmark ended Cedar Cove without giving it’s watchers a wrap up episode makes me much less likely to start watching any other series they may produce.
I agree with Lisa! I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove is not coming back. I LOVED this show. Looked forward to it each Saturday night. 🙁 The actors and actresses were GREAT in their roles. Fit their parts well. The new show “I guess” that is taking it’s place is well….Chesapeake Bay??? Cove??? Island??? I don’t remember, I’m sure will be fine – but I’d much rather have Cedar Cove back. I watch the Hallmark Channel the most on my TV. Enjoy the Saturday night movies. After a long week at work, it’s nice to sit down and watch… Read more »
My husband and I always looked forward to Cedar Cove. PLEASE reconsider and at least give the fans some kind of ending. It isn’t fair to leave the fans hanging with so many story lines up in the air.
We ha e been waiting for the season premier, and are very disappointed to hear it was cancelled!
I just found out it was cancelled, I am very disappointed, I think the reason it might of lost viewers is because it took to long for next season episodes. You should of at least ended with unanswered questions not let everyone upbin the air. Very disappointed
So disappointed that Cedar Cove is cancelled. I thought the show was very good. it seems like all the good shows are cancelled and the junk remains.
What a BIG disappointment. Thanks hallmark for cancelling a great show!,
It was a great show and it’s terrible that they canceled the show and yes I would like to see them bring back the show for a closure
Yep, I just went online too trying to see when our next season would begin. It just seems not enough people want decent, warm-hearted programs. If it’s not riddled with filth, violence & “f” words, it doesn’t have a chance of surviving. Boo, hiss & VERY disappointed!!
