Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I am totally hooked! Please bring it back Hallmark! It was so wonderful to have a show without violence, blood, guts and sex. Cedar Cove was extraordinary – loved the beautiful scenery, all of the characters and the exciting storyline. Please bring on season 4!!!!! You can’t leave us hanging like this!
Very disappointed. A decent good story line and great cast. Cliffhanger for sure. Not good Hallmark. A final show or a short season would have been a bit more reasonable. Nobody likes to be left hanging.
Very sad that the 4th season was cancelled. I loved watching the life events of Cedar Cove. The acting was great, it moved quickly & was never boring. Cedar Cove was such a pleasant change from other shows .
Cedar Cove was a great show. Such a beautiful setting that drew you right in. The cast was fabulous. Would definitely like to see more seasons. So disappointed after watching the last episode that the show was cancelled. I truly hope it comes back with its cast. Andie McDowell surely displayed so much character feeling & emotion in her character as the judge. Please have more episodes.
That stinks that there won’t be a Season 4 of Cedar Cove. TV shows have got to be so ridiculous anymore. I prefer Hallmark networks, Food Network, History, Nat’l Geographic – no major networks.
Enjoyed the series. I loved the town setting & the characters. What a shame, seems all the decent shows get cancelled while the blood, guts, & sex filled ones continue. Very disappointed in Hallmark
So disappointed in Hallmark. I believe you can see by the comments, this was a well loved series. Definitely won’t start another Hallmark series. Hate to be left hanging.
Very disappointed there is no season 4. I enjoyed all the characters in this series. A wonderful program! Perhaps there can be a TV movie ?? I would love to see a finale!
I loved that show. I can’t believe it was cancelled. Please return this show for Season 4. Please………….Please!!!
How sad! Characters you could really get behind–just the right amount of drama, sweetness and bite. Too bad…
Replying to my comment dated 8/3/16, maybe it was Netflix that I just watched Cedar Cove. I wrote Hulu as I usually find more on it I like than Netflix.
I was disappointed that a lot of what was in the book series, wasn’t even in the TV show which is probably why the ratings went down. For one thing, Charlotte was in the whole series. I only got to see the first two or three when it first aired in ’13, and found it on Hulu recently and ust finished watching it. Had the series included all of what went on in the books, the series would still be on. That’s my take on it.
I really dislike the networks playing with minds. Brother and Sisters had the same ending cancelled without closure It is a shame we have to formulate in our minds an ending. Is there a book we can read? Very disappointing
The show is based off of the Cedar Cove series. Not quite the same storyline but good books
I was patiently waiting for Cedar Cove to return and now I kniw it’s not. Such a wonderful show. My family was hooked and I am mad at Hallmark that it’s not coming back. You left us hanging
How could you do that to us??? Incredibly frustrating!
