Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

My husband and I loved Cider Cove. Can’t believe it was cancelled. So few decent shows to watch.
I’ve been waiting and waiting for the return of a season 4 and now I see Cedar Cove has been cancelled. Very disappointed. Why leave all the fans of this wonderful series hanging with no closure? Perhaps you could consider a 2 hr. movie or a 2 part movie to develop an ending for the characters of Cedar Cove and their relationships, especially for Olivia and JackI. t would make a lot of us happy, bring closure to the series, and restore my faith in Hallmark.
Anxiously awaiting Cedar Coves return I googled to see when it would start back up. Can’t believe it has been cancelled. We baby boomers are the ones watching Hallmark. Most cable and tv stations cater to the younger generation, who don’t watch much tv. I am very disappointed !!!!
I really liked Cedar Cove and am very disappointed that it is not returning. I looked forward to every Saturday night for the next episode. Wow, I am sad that it is not returning.
Really enjoyed “cedar Cove” a show that is worth watching & want it for more ! Please bring more of it and have a nice closure to it with so many fans out there wants, what’s not to like ? Bring that Cedar Cove”‘s spirits back & more PLEASE !!!
Wow just like the other channels leave you hanging. would be nice to have one last episode. Give the fans closure.
LOVED CEDAR COVE SO MUCH… FINALLY, A GOOD, CLEAN, NON-VIOLENT SERIES TO WATCH – LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS!! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!! ESPECIALLY JACK!
Very disappointing! I agree that the break in between seasons hurt. Not sure how the new show Chesapeake Shores will do as the books are similar in settings and such. Loved both book series and will miss Cedar Cove characters.
So sad. Loved this show.
I couldn’t wait for season 4, only to find out it had been cancelled. Hallmark not bringing the series to a close was a mistake. I agree with Cherie, the time between seasons was too long. Hallmark, please bring the series back, if only to bring closure.
This show was wonderful. I was so looking forward to season 4. This is really disappointing.
I absolutely loved this show! Love Debbie Macomber! Read everything she writes! I think the ratings dropped because the show would be off the air for so long between seasons and people would miss the first show or two and then decide to stop watching and catch up on Netflix!
I loved Cedar Cove and couldn’t wait for the next season. Please, Please, Please bring it back.
I enjoyed the show and looked forward to it. Perhaps the reason the ratings went down each year is because the network waited way too long between seasons and people would start to forget about it. I’d love to see it come back.
WOW, 203 pages of comments so far. Guess this was a big screw up on the part of Hallmark. Have always loved this series. I could watch it without worry of blood, guts and guns being sprayed all over the screen. You could at least make a movie to wrap up all the loose ends or perhaps a short 6 week run. Too,too bad.
